I hope the "What if Disco Elysium was about a witch finding her cat in the mountains" post never leaves the gaming discourse vernacular. It will never not be funny to me bc it's got all the Gamer Entitlement™ levels of CoD bros throwing hissy fits about "woke" shit but instead of being couched in far right reactionism it's the exact kind of "Kingdom of Conscience" style liberal outrage at anything with conviction and beliefs that DE waxed on about. Like even chuds who get mad that the game calls you out for being racist interact with the themes of DE better and understand them more than Cat Lady did.

Trying to comprehend this post shuts down my frontal lobe.

You need the context of these two tweets

Peer reviewed tags bc this is also a very good point that people should see

I also think that quite apart from the problematic idolisation of western European aestheticism, it displays this incredibly naive belief that "quality of writing" is perfectly fungible and separable from its subject material. Disco Elysium has excellent writing and narrative pacing because of what it's about. It's so deeply impacting and meaningful BECAUSE it deals with uncomfortable and messy subjects.

I'm not saying that you couldn't have a deep and meaningful story about a witch searching for a lost cat in a town in the Alps, but you'd have to sacrifice the anodyne edgelessness that the original post is clearly yearning for.

one of my favorite parts about transition is being able to be emotional and like. get excited about stuff. i spent two decades becoming morose and silent. and finally getting a release is. astounding. happiness begets happiness😁exponential joy exponential zest and excitement and love and wonder and cherishing and beauty and yay and haha yeah🫶

also honorable mention to CRYING!!!!!!!!!!!😁🫶💜

"trans women are pressured to undergo surgery to get anything close to the same amount of respect as their cisgender counterparts (already not much)" and "trans women deserve to feel comfortable in their bodies and this often includes surgery" are two things that coexist. they are both true things. you do not need to demonize surgery while making a point

I just realized that the sputch’s cartridge system where the cartridges don’t contain game data but only contain a key to a download of a game also means that, if ever they stop supporting the sputch, they may stop support of downloads altogether, meaning you may straight up lose your copy of the game even if you have a cartridge. I’m not sure if this is true or how this would realistically play out but it’s potentially a very interesting way to plan obsolescence.

There is no advantage to buying physical copies of nintendo sputch games. It’s more expensive for no reason, and the cartridge downloads the game anyways.

this is problematic of me (joke) but i really enjoy the splashing of french into english speech or writing. just adds a pizzazz

*adds a certain je ne sais quoi

see the problem is that despite around 8 years of french schooling the french language has utterly escaped my brain so even the most obvious set up i had created for myself by accident was missed by me. such is life.

*c'est la vie

god damn it

actuaally fuuckingggg hate people who dont like art in any meaningful way unless its a drawing of batman mixed with superman or some shit. All those videos where people "destroy modern art" by putting a random object in a museum and insulting people when they take pictures of it are so irritating. Like yeah im sure some of the people taking pics are kind of annoying but most people are just trying to find greater meaning and beauty in things especially when theyre in a museum specifically to do that. You arent badass for not liking art youre just boring and refuse to find something interesting or beautiful in things you have already decided you hate

like okay i get that we figured out that we can inject estrogen into you to make you grow boobs and we can inject testosterone into you to make you grow more facial hair and shit but like why stop there? we should invent random hormones and inject them into ourselves for fun until we find the ones that turn us into majestic and ancient beasts capable of destroying entire cities. i for one think it would be a fun bonding experience
