Darry wouldn't understand what you're talking about. He just wouldn't see it.

Johnny would be like, "My parents don't even want me. Tf you mean?"

Steve would be like, "Have you seen my teeth???"

Two-Bit would be like, "I'm literally drunk at 9AM."

Soda would tell you how ridiculous you're being.

Ponyboy would be like, "Join the club."

And Dally would just be like, "Okay... ??? Sucks for you, I guess?"

Everyone sees the gang as 'tough' and shit, but I bet you they don't know that every Sunday they'll gather around the TV on Darry's day off to watch the Peanuts together at breakfast

look idc what the musical kept and cut but they should’ve never cut the curtis brothers hug or the original deaths at my door ending and i will die on this hill

stevepop catching fireflies but soda is teaching steve to be gentle to things instead of acting on instinct and getting frustrated (leading to steve feeling like he can be his real self around soda, cause he is gentle, he just has a hard time of showing it) and steve showing soda how to calm down sometimes and how to enjoy the moment while he can instead of fretting about the future

like steve’s getting frustrated cause all the ones he’s trying to catch fly away just before he catches them and soda just rubs his shoulder and puts one in steve’s hand, and steve just lets this vulnerable little creature he could crush at any moment just…crawl around in his hands. something kinda just snaps within him and he just feels at ease, knowing he’s able to be gentle with this vulnerable being. he doesn’t feel angry for once. he’s allowed to be gentle with soda. he can learn to not let his anger reel him in.

additionally, sodapop gets a but too excited with catching the fireflies, and sometimes he ends up squishing them in his hands because he acts so quickly and impulsively while wanting to catch them. steve sees this and tries to mellow soda out a little bit. he takes sodas hands and closes them around a firefly that’s been circling around, though he’s acting cool about it. he’s teaching soda to be less impulsive, and to live in the moment instead of leaping at the first opportunity with everything he’s got. he’s gonna get hurt, or hurt others like that, steve reckons.
