Marsha P Johnson. Trans woman. Drag queen. Activist. The first person to throw a brick at Stonewall. Hero. Don’t whitewash. Never forget.

Of all the strange things to happen in 2017, Smash Mouth explicitly supporting trans people during pride month is by far the most pleasant. Hey now, you’re an all star.

to lgbtq+ indigenous youth:

just a reminder that you are under no obligation to label yourself according to the western-centric + white-centric labels of gender and sexuality.

lgbtq+ identities existed long before colonization touched our land. You do not have to exchange one type of conformity for another to fit in with other lgbtq+ folks.

If labels like nonbinary, genderfluid, etc feel good to you, go for it!

If two-spirit feels right, that’s awesome! If not, don’t sweat it.

If you have an identity specific to your indigenous heritage, you are under no obligation to translate your complex, nuanced identity into terms that non-natives understand.

You are under no explanation to explain your identity to non-natives.

(ok for non natives to reblog!)

Lesbians with no experience? Lesbians with a lot of experience? Lesbians who have been with men? Lesbians who haven’t? Lesbians who are unsure about their identity? Lesbians who are 110% sure? All lesbians? Incredible, beautiful, important, 10/10 would recommend. I bet if we had more lesbians, all world problems would be solved.

cancers are fascinated by human behavior. it all seems so strange, curious, and perplexing. they make natural psychologists because they see people’s wounds, so raw and glaringly. there is a child inside everyone cancer wants to validate

Pride Month | June 2017

Wishing you a powerful Pride month of celebration, protest, community and resilience. Remember: We didn’t get this far without a fight, and the work is far from over.

                ~~~~~~~~~~hello tumblr~~~~~~~~~~ we, the Rainbow Arts Committee, are manifesting a suuuuper special event this month for Pride!!!! we are working hard at creating a safer space/art exhibition/informative space/prom within the LGBTQIA+ community here in Los Angeles. our mission is to bring awareness to important issues within the LGBTQIA+ community by hosting an event that brings visibility to local underrepresented Los Angeles artists on the spectrum while curating a secure space for educative discourse on issues. we will be including the works of 9 amazing local queer artists all ranging in different mediums. we will also be hosting informative booths from resource centers here in LA. there will be live music, live poetry, and a photo booth featuring photography by @themanwholovedflowers to capture your beautiful selves at prom. in order to get our event up and running, we are lovingly asking for your donations! anything you are willing to donate is highly appreciated and received with open heart energy.  even if it’s just a few dollars that you can donate, or a lil’ rebloggage on your page, you will be contributing immensely to a special event for the community!  here’s a few different things your donation will be going towards:
  • paying our artists in cold hard cash for their art, time, and energy
  • providing resources and artistic materials for exhibitions
  • locking down the venue (we found the perfect one, just need the funds to secure it asap!)
  • creating a safe all inclusive environment (this means paying for security, decorations, etc.)
to donate or for more information feel free to visit our youcaring page and don’t forget to check us out on instagram and facebook! with Love, The Rainbow Arts Committee
