it is very telling that most of what is being posted about this latest episode is about eddie and christopher's storyline. i'm seeing almost nothing about hen when it was just as much about her. in an episode about feeling invisible, her storyline was badly planned and even worse in its execution, so much so that it's fading into the background and being ignored. i wonder why :)
reblogging because i want to make it clear i am not trying to shade bvddie here. i’m talking about how hen has gotten the short end of the stick where they pull conflict out of thin air that hasn’t been alluded to in any way prior, while putting a lot more work into the other characters and letting their arcs span multiple episodes. in eddie and buck’s case, seasons. and they made this storyline about her being upset that people forgot her birthday? valid absolutely, but please do tell me whos ass you pulled that storyline out of. there is so much untapped potential surrounding her and i want them to explore it!
If you are feeling good about yourself or situation and then your mood suddenly shifts leaving you feeling insecure, unsure, etc. try to remind yourself that nothing has truly changed but your perception. Your cute outfit did not suddenly become horrid. Your delicious meal did not tranform into a terrible one. Your peers perception of you has not radically transformed over a social misstep. Everything we experience is put through it through our mental filter, and that can convince us that everyone else sees us with the judgement we have for ourselves. Be kind to yourself.
Perfect example of “you have other characters Tim” was handed to us this episode with more backstory on Eddie and his parents. Oh - what’s that? Parents that have sky high expectations and standards that you failed to lived up to and have carried that guilt and shame in the back of your mind but you’re moving forward and trying to be your own person? Eddie Diaz - would you like to speak with Chimeny Han?! Someone whose father is also the worst and left him with very complicated feelings for years. Who is raising! a! child! and doing everything possible to not repeat the mistakes inflicted on him?! Gahhhh!!! It could have been sooooooo good!
Well i wouldn’t call Ramon “the worst” but the rest of this is absolutely spot the fuck on. Chimney and Eddie is an underserved dynamic. And not only could Eddie benefit from developing that dynamic, IT WOULD GIVE CHIMNEY SOMETHING NON-MADDIE RELATED TO DO! They have two beats for Chimney anymore: Maddie’s accessory or comic relief.
I am indeed Ready For Cheddie!
I’m going to fucking starve!
