I can guarantee that was why she was willing to show herself because you would have thought of it as a dream.
Oh, so you finally show your face.
Cool picture of Flymon because I wanted to include it.
This is why I think it is important that the kids learn what their Crests meant that didn't come from an biased (and one against them) source. I can't blame Gennai too much on shoddy communication he was dealt with, yet upon learning about them, Sora is immediately disheartened and primed to be manipulated about how she isn't suited for the Crest of Love. If they were told what activates them from a positive or even neutral source there can be reassurance and less self-doubt. Expecting children to have better control of their emotions and confidence is a lot.
It would not have fixed all the problems and make them infallible to PicoDevimon's manipulation. Yamato still has his hang-ups figuring out what the Crest of Friendship means for him, and at that point he knows what the Crests mean. Still, being in the dark does not make things easier to digest.
(I also may go back to, but I think it is interesting that Sora and Yamato have the most issues coming to terms with their assigned Crests. Since more than any others, love and friendship are partly dependent on relationships with others. It is interesting to think about how that impacts their self-esteem issues compared to everyone else. Those are traits around how you feel and act toward another party rather than being centered around the self.)
None of this is a fault of the story. Conflict is good. It's what makes stories work. Especially not blaming the kids. I may blame Gennai a bit, but I do like the Crests as a reflection of everyone's insecurities, mistakes, and strengths. But this is a pile of reactions and shitposts, so I feel like pointing out 'hey, this could have gone over better if they just knew from the start.'
A conversation of talking around each other instead of with each other. I also have to praise the framing. We don't see Sora's mom's face in her memories to show the disconnect between mother and daughter at this point.
Just because your parent is bad at communication does not make it your fault.
Taichi may have the bluntness of a brick, but he's right. Sora has done everything to not let the others fall for PicoDevimon controlling the narrative for the kids, but when it comes to herself, she can't imagine he was telling anything but the truth. She has no faith in herself ๐.
Also correct. A good cry is good.
Child has best reaction. If a friend doesn't think they are enough, it's good to thank them for what they do and reassure them that their efforts are worth something.
lmao, I take it back. Kid is using his parents' divorce to guilt trip. I wouldn't have the guts loolll.
What a dramatic asshole. Also, unfortunately I am feeling obligated again to give a villain a cool shot where it's due.
I love that the representation of love is not romantic and instead focused on a parent of child (theoretically the first kind of love a child would receive). 1) Sora's a kid, so yeah. 2) I'm aromantic af and will always adore nonromantic love in stories. 3) Shounen needs more mother-daughter relationships.
LET THE FIRES OF LOVE SMITE YOU!
Sora putting her wellbeing and confidence on hold, protecting her friends from being hurt emotionally and making mistakes she believes she herself has made:
ily Sora /platonically, as my aro-ness insists. But I can see her being a lot of people's first crushes ๐.
I love Jou, being the oldest and one most likely to have started puberty is the one flustered when Taichi says he would like Sora's love. Poor boy is like "do you know what that MEANS?" and Taichi is just like "???"
I don't think I can pick a favorite episode for the Digimon partners reaching Perfect. This is the one I found myself looking forward to the most though, and that has always been the case rewatching the series over the years. I also really look forward to HolyAngemon, but despite my love for the angel evos and the end of the season, that's largely because it takes so goddamn long. This is the one I look forward to the most as an episode by itself.
