she/her, almost twice driving age, aroace massive nerd Galaxies of different interests, basically whatever the fuck I feel like.
Planning on a long hiatus, will sometimes queue posts on weekends or whenever I have energy to come on. Contact/reaching out on blog off.
My blog where I post most of my Magi stuff @pan-magi

Chances that my blog will become very disorganized is high, so this is more for me than anyone else. If it helps anyone else that is here that's good too.

(It's long so I put it under the read more and quick tl;dr a simple rundown of how I tag stuff to make sure I keep myself consistent).

Updated February '25. Mostly adding clarifications on how I tag different character names and other additional nonfandom tags I often post about.

Angry lil' guys don't like being called ugly ๐Ÿ˜ก

I don't think you're supposed to admit that, lmao.

I think Vamdemon may be a vampire, peeps XD.

Mimi not yet internalizing no time had passed yet. And told you so, Mimi. You have friends to get back to โค๏ธ.

Now they're both guilt tripping with their parents divorce. I'm cackling.

Yeah, they know what they're doing. lmao. Also Patamon and Tsunomon looking at each other like "Hm?" "Mm."

Taichi, maybe it's good to set more boundaries with your teachers then. Before manipulating them to take you somewhere else, obviously.

Yes, why would you give the real one to the 'mon you for all intents and purposes stole it away from.

...

Now give it back!

Guy says to the giant mammoth with a cybernetic head/helmet.

I WOULD SURE HOPE SO, YOU WERE AT GROUND ZERO! lolol.

Patamon, Gomamon, Palmon: completely normal reaction of fear.

These two lil' lil guys: ๐Ÿ˜  Let's fight!

You have plenty of battles ahead of you. You will get your turn, trust me. Right now you will be smooshed.

I like that the two that first remember what exactly happened are the two youngest. Hikari never forgot, and Takeru is the first to put the pieces together here.

Next time back your little brother up ๐Ÿ™‚

I just really like how fire is animated this episode.

Including adorable kids because yes.

Also... I wonder who the eighth child is. It couldn't be the girl who literally found the DigiEgg first.

Yeah, I WONDER...

Literally, all you have to do is go home.

I know I am giving them (mainly Taichi) shit for not recognizing it's Hikari. TBF, I know one of the first things he does when he gets home is ask her. I just find the the tragic humor of it all hilarious. With this episode, it also makes the first movie (which is relatively short at about 20 minutes) as an episode 0.

That's completely fair. You have the ability to ask now without being interrupted. Plus, it has been a long day.

I hope you realize that your mileage may vary. (Including this more on the pretty scenery than Gennai's words)

Agreed. Their expressions are also adorable.

Kids recognizing they grew up in the same area. It's fine though, they'll put that on hold for now.

Everyone looks so adorable relaxed and sleeping. KOUSHIRO STOP TALKING TO GENNAI AND JOIN THEM /lighthearted.

โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘->โž•

I'm curious why you were on occult websites. I'm concerned that they were late 90s occult websites lol. Early public internet was certainly a place. One that I miss sometimes.

Taichi, acting as the informal de facto leader since he got here:

Being actually addressed as such: ?!??

I adore this idiot so much.

It is the right decision to have Koushiro do it, all for delegating properly around here, but it is funny that the second the amount of pressure/responsibility is presented to pass it immediately to someone else. Poor Koushiro is like, uh, sure, I can do it.

Placing a few cool Digimon shots.

Yay!

I like everyone checking in with each other in this. It feels very balanced. And sweet. They're good kids.

The thought is right, but you guys have no idea what is and is not edible here. That is my semi-serious comment. My nonserious comment... OMG KOROMON AND TSUNOMON ARE COMPLETELY COVERED BY THEIR BUSHELS awwwww. Mochimon is the same stage as them but he has some height advantage XD.

I find it endearing that Taichi's answer is 'I wanted to keep it.' To me, it looked like he heart of the cards it and picked at random. I'm not convinced he did not pick randomly and that is an excuse he gave.

Nice group shot to finish this one.

I'm glad Jou is resourceful by stealing from his former "employer," yeah, sure. My mind just gets stuck on, you guys took your shoes off right? Jou, you want to be a doctor, you have to know getting your shoes and socks wet is asking to get sick? It's anal and I know they probably did, but I can't see their shoes on the shore and my mind is just like that.

Yay... I say just rip the bandage off. I do appreciate how the quickly discuss which would be better to hear first and accept their conclusion.

They're the same age as you and you're literally two peas in a pod.

It should be illegal that he has so many cool shots, but whatever XD. Have another obligatory cool bad guy screencap.

TAILMON!!! That is all. I'll let my biases show through, and I am a cat person. Also prementioned fan of the angel evolution lines.

More of the framing of this shot this time over Vamdemon specifically. Though, I will say, hidden passage behind a bookshelf, kind of clichรฉ lol.

This is why you shouldn't abuse your workers, recruits, or whatever. When given the opportunity, they have no reason to respect your authority.

๐Ÿ˜ Numemon is so cute here.

Mimi and Taichi waiting patiently for their partners to come back makes me smile. It helps that their expressions reflect both of them amazingly.

Trippy. Another case of having a lot of screencaps capturing the weird flux Vamdemon's castle is in but ended with this one capturing it the best.

Jsyk, you are talking about a little girl.

๐Ÿ‘Treat your workers right๐Ÿ‘

Update to feral gremlin child Takeru complete โค๏ธ

Sassy cat tired of this shit.

And he doesn't realize that it's his sister yet. Or maybe a part of him subconsciously already knows since Taichi does react the most visibly to the idea of failing.

I can guarantee that was why she was willing to show herself because you would have thought of it as a dream.

Oh, so you finally show your face.

Cool picture of Flymon because I wanted to include it.

This is why I think it is important that the kids learn what their Crests meant that didn't come from an biased (and one against them) source. I can't blame Gennai too much on shoddy communication he was dealt with, yet upon learning about them, Sora is immediately disheartened and primed to be manipulated about how she isn't suited for the Crest of Love. If they were told what activates them from a positive or even neutral source there can be reassurance and less self-doubt. Expecting children to have better control of their emotions and confidence is a lot.

It would not have fixed all the problems and make them infallible to PicoDevimon's manipulation. Yamato still has his hang-ups figuring out what the Crest of Friendship means for him, and at that point he knows what the Crests mean. Still, being in the dark does not make things easier to digest.

(I also may go back to, but I think it is interesting that Sora and Yamato have the most issues coming to terms with their assigned Crests. Since more than any others, love and friendship are partly dependent on relationships with others. It is interesting to think about how that impacts their self-esteem issues compared to everyone else. Those are traits around how you feel and act toward another party rather than being centered around the self.)

None of this is a fault of the story. Conflict is good. It's what makes stories work. Especially not blaming the kids. I may blame Gennai a bit, but I do like the Crests as a reflection of everyone's insecurities, mistakes, and strengths. But this is a pile of reactions and shitposts, so I feel like pointing out 'hey, this could have gone over better if they just knew from the start.'

A conversation of talking around each other instead of with each other. I also have to praise the framing. We don't see Sora's mom's face in her memories to show the disconnect between mother and daughter at this point.

Just because your parent is bad at communication does not make it your fault.

Taichi may have the bluntness of a brick, but he's right. Sora has done everything to not let the others fall for PicoDevimon controlling the narrative for the kids, but when it comes to herself, she can't imagine he was telling anything but the truth. She has no faith in herself ๐Ÿ™.

Self-love comes first!

Also correct. A good cry is good.

Child has best reaction. If a friend doesn't think they are enough, it's good to thank them for what they do and reassure them that their efforts are worth something.

lmao, I take it back. Kid is using his parents' divorce to guilt trip. I wouldn't have the guts loolll.

๐Ÿ’”

What a dramatic asshole. Also, unfortunately I am feeling obligated again to give a villain a cool shot where it's due.

I love that the representation of love is not romantic and instead focused on a parent of child (theoretically the first kind of love a child would receive). 1) Sora's a kid, so yeah. 2) I'm aromantic af and will always adore nonromantic love in stories. 3) Shounen needs more mother-daughter relationships.

โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

LET THE FIRES OF LOVE SMITE YOU!

Sora putting her wellbeing and confidence on hold, protecting her friends from being hurt emotionally and making mistakes she believes she herself has made:

Before: Love isn't me.

After: Huh.

ily Sora /platonically, as my aro-ness insists. But I can see her being a lot of people's first crushes ๐Ÿ˜‰.

I love Jou, being the oldest and one most likely to have started puberty is the one flustered when Taichi says he would like Sora's love. Poor boy is like "do you know what that MEANS?" and Taichi is just like "???"

I don't think I can pick a favorite episode for the Digimon partners reaching Perfect. This is the one I found myself looking forward to the most though, and that has always been the case rewatching the series over the years. I also really look forward to HolyAngemon, but despite my love for the angel evos and the end of the season, that's largely because it takes so goddamn long. This is the one I look forward to the most as an episode by itself.

I had to include at least one proper image of these silly little pedal boats. I'm laughing though because Gomamon is probably in one of the worst spots to produce more drag in the water at the front of the boat. I don't blame him with how often they end up taking the Ikkakumon Express (or later the Zudomon one) while traveling over water. But also... why? There has to be a more comfortable spot, right?

I searched pedal boats to make sure that was the right term for them and was like hm, this seems right I guess. *sees one almost exactly like this* Ok, good, it is the same.

The Return of Stairs: The Reckoning

I tried finding if there was anything special about a knockoff ring but didn't see anything besides the cheapness of replica rings. It wasn't a long search though. I'm surprised that Mimi is being stringent with the demands considering her attitude right now.

To be fair, that is a pretty dress.

My guy PicoDevimon doing good work and getting no respect. It's not his fault the kids are resilient.

I am pretty sure you have other friends and family that will miss you, and you were the most adamant on finding your way home. The isekai power-fantasy of being a ruler in a different world has gotten to you, Mimi. You must resist. It is not worth it.

This is such a diva pose for her and I love it. Resist, Mimi. You got this!

When confronted with resistance, just digs his heels in deeper and refuses to budge. Yeah, that sounds about right for Taichi.

The escalation XD. I had more pictures lined up for all of them but that was a lot.

Poor little guys. Everyone looks so disappointed and distraught.

Oh, please, no. (Nothing against any of the voice actors here. It's hard to be a good singer. It can be harder to be a good bad singer.)

I know they mean well. Honestly though, I will be equally pissed as Mimi learning that my friends tried to record and eavesdrop on me without my consent.

๐Ÿ’” The momentary shock and despair before Mimi is able to mask it over Palmon saying she hates her is everything. Palmon has always been in her corner since she got here. It will be devastating realizing you can lose that.

Yup, the trauma of everything will sink in and lead to nightmares eventually. Poor Mimi ๐Ÿ™

Sora, Sora, Sora. Please, I'm begging, stay and talk to your friends.

In other news, I forgot to save the subtitle screencap for reference. But these girls are so sweet โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง. The lighting...!

Temptation thwarted! Resistance success!

Such a pretty picture of Mimi. Strong girls are allowed to cry ๐Ÿ’ช

First step, giving someone the space they need. And don't step on them, preferably. Then they will come to you. They've waited ages for you to wake up. A destructive rage after post-nap moodiness is not a good foot to start out on.

Yay!

It was a Mimi focused episode, so I'm not surprised half the images I ended up picking is based off of "I think this image is pretty." I wouldn't have been disappointed if Lilimon premiered this episode, but I can wait, I suppose.

If he wants to show up, he will find a way to show up. I would not stress too much about it.

That is most certainly pleasant, yeeepp. I'm more busy chuckling at how quickly PicoDevimon managed to fix that sign.

Not at all! You have to be able to okay with the fact that you'll always need to keep answering questions. Knowing literally everything would no longer be fun without them. Plus your head will explode.

You do look dead inside child. Real talk, I have always loved what presents as a challenge for the Crest of Knowledge is not around being unintelligent. Koushiro is unresponsive and hyperfocuses on literally doing nothing trying to clear his mind (mood), but he's not suddenly lost everything he knows. It's the loss of curiosity and inquisitiveness that does it. Because willfully ignorant people lack the desire to change and be smarter, even if they are on all accounts "intelligent." (not meant to be an attack toward anyone... unless you're an American politician. yes, I'm bitter at my country right now)

Mysteries are fun because you want to solve them! Some are best just wondering briefly about, but I think you are missing the point of mysteries. That said, these are two very big statements. Are you sure the branding might be too broad? XD

My favorite thing about Koushiro being able to reach Taichi is that he's not completely void of emotions or thought that his first instinct is to still ask a question and that question is asking about whereabouts and wellbeing. My heart that the signal cut before Taichi could hear the please stay in touch, noooo.

My question is what established the connection because neither of them were trying to reach out. My main question though is how long was Koushiro stuck in the "Universe of Mystery." My first thought was that it couldn't be too long, but Taichi was still back home for several minutes after he lost connection until he came back. And when Koushiro breaks out, he immediately is met with Takeru and Yamato after they split off from Taichi and Jou. My gut then is to say a few weeks, which backs up with Tentomon losing so much spirit and power from Koushiro's lack of care or curiosity to devolve to Babumon; the same with that gives PicoDevimon more room to be juggling all these kid's falls at once. Time could also be more distorted where they are at compared to the Digital World proper.

How do you end up getting yourself in the creepiest situations being the most logical? (That is fun I admit. The same for Velma. I made a Scooby Doo reference in the last one, so I am allowed to do so again here lol)

Noo, baby, it's okay, I promise ๐Ÿ˜ข

๐Ÿ’”โค๏ธ

The best way to get information? Spying. Espionage. Same difference, right?

Babu no think. Only do. The goal is getting that crest back then will get it back.

I want to make sure to include at least a shot of the partner's perfect forms for their premiere episode. This is what I landed on. A few frames before the data slide came up, I'm guessing. I had to turn off subtitles to get a clean shot.

Knowledge is power. And power wants to punch you in the face!

The world is healing, and these two are adorable.

Tsunomon, meet kettle.

See? If he wants to show up he will show up.

Poor Jou does not know how to begin to explain the situation he is in.

The return of the biggest little shit! /affectionate. I know a lot of it is flashback as we catch up on each of the children, but he's working overtime. Good for him.

->Restaurant patrons and staff speak Japanese. ->A handful of the dishes shown appear to also be Japanese ->Only accepts US$.

I don't blame you, Jou. I would be pissed.

You were the one who threw it.

I was serious when I mentioned indentured servitude in my last rewatch post. Anytime I hear paying off a debt that just keeps growing and growing and theoretically you should be protected under the law (no idea what the legalities in the Digital World are. Digitamamon seems to be one of the few capitalistic businesses around), but you're treated like shit, it's the first thing I think of. It is a bit of a stretch, normal indentured servitude is for years. I don't doubt that they would have kept Jou and Yamato there until they were adults.

Oh, that's another thing, child labor.

(I'm also several years post-graduation on classes with this stuff so take my word with caution.)

They are both trying so hard to be considerate. The value of talking to your friends and being honest aahhh...

One screencap does not do well to show how much the poor lad is shaking. I really admire Jou for how he handles his anxiety despite how much shit it gives him. Guy is prepared to go through med school... THEY WILL EAT YOU ALIVE PRECIOUS BEAN! (this is nothing against thinking he can't do it. It's that med school and field can be hell, as conveyed to me by others in my life) He makes a fantastic doctor.

Sora, please, please talk to your friends. They'll love to hear you are all right. Or were even here at all.

You would really have to hate a coworker to mess up so badly to increase the amount of abuse you receive. That is counterproductive. There are better ways to get out of something or convey the message of screw you to the boss without impacting people you work with who you actually like.

Yamato is a way too close to panicking and worry to recognize this though. Oh, and a child, who shouldn't be working at all at this age or knows how this stuff works.

Little brother interrupts break at work: Day immediately 1000x better.

I would not put money on that. You are much too reckless and stubborn.

The dead eyes of evil management.

This is why it's good to have faith in your friends. ๐Ÿ‘

Two angry furry boys.

Love how bristling Ikkakumon looks. Put his partner down!!

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!

Two angry furry boys, except one of them is bipedal now.

Speak for yourself, if he's desperate enough and thinks it is the most productive option, Jou will do anything โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿ‘ True ๐Ÿ‘ friends ๐Ÿ‘ talk ๐Ÿ‘ about ๐Ÿ‘ their ๐Ÿ‘ feelings ๐Ÿ‘

"And I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!"

๐Ÿคโค๏ธ

I focused a lot on shit work conditions for this, but I do really like this episode for both Yamato and Jou. They're good kids. Should lay off employment for a bit though xD. Saving the world is enough stress.

They get back and everything is in shambles. I'm more surprised they landed in the same place they left from what I could tell. I am a little disappointed when Tokomon explains what happened it doesn't show Taichi's or Agumon's reaction to learning how long it has been. They probably internalized the fact that a lot of time would have passed because practically none passed from when Taichi left but it would still have been fun to see or hear.

I will forever be greatly entertained by Yamato's reactions to Taichi apparently dying.

Do not say promises you cannot keep.

I failed to include teethy Tokomon pics before and now am putting these out there to counteract that. ๐Ÿ˜

This is why you do not make promises. And don't worry, he's just caught up in some indentured servitude. It'll be fine.

Ah, the biggest little shit appears. /affectionate

I have never, ever, heard a bigger lie.

Takeru slowly unlocking his little gremlin energy. Unfortunately, it's directed at his best friend ๐Ÿ™.

Takeru... that's called being worried about them.

Taichi, about to adopt his friend's little brother: :>

//

Taichi, being confronted with the request to actually adopt someone else's little brother: ??!??!

That's called jealousy, and he needs to get over it.

Agumon the interrogator is the best.

Sora, please, stay and talk to your friends.

Out of all the trauma Takeru gathers, I'm surprised he doesn't have severe trust issues on top of that. Truly, a child of hope. And for the mess that is his life sometimes, his support system is pretty decent, which helps a lot.

Yay! Little guinea pig angel is back!

Oh, it's you. /affectionate /derogatory

Yep! And it will never go out permanently. The kid is much too stubborn for that.
