yall make fun of The Mandalorian for having flutes in the theme when mandalorians themselves literally have a flute that is also an effective stabbing weapon in a pinch, called a bes’bev

flutes are perfect for mandalorians and we need to stop making fun of flutes before the piccolo players come for us

Ok… Let me tell you of the brilliance that is this theme…

It’s pretty obviously an homage to “The Ecstasy of Gold” by Ennio Morricone as much of the show is an homage to old westerns & the samurai films that inspired them…

But also the operatics in Morricone’s work were meant to represent the feeling of greed one gets upon being presented with riches and the eventual triumph over that that the hero experiences.

“Eastwood’s “The man with no name” relied on this music throughout the film because he was supposed to show very little emotion.

Ludwig Goransson added flutes as a way to introduce something non-organic and metal into the theme, representing the helmet and facial expressions of The Mandalorian that we never get to see.

Just like the operatics followed TMWNN when he triumphed over the inherent greed of men, the flute follows Dyn Jarren whenever he makes a decision about the child.

That flute represents The Mandalorian’s humanity in a world of fire and thunder (drumbeats).

If you don’t think that’s badass storytelling I don’t know what to tell you.

I unironically love the Mando Murder Flute, and honestly did think of it when I heard the flutes in the theme music. This is an interesting idea, and in addition to that Star Wars music seems to use a lot of wind instruments in ‘positive’ themes (Leia’s theme, Force Theme), so it seems to fit with that as well to an extent. Because his decisions when it comes to the child lead him in a positive direction when it comes to personal growth.

Also, it just makes the theme just that bit cooler. Which is great, because it’s already really cool.

people with tooth decay aren't bad people. they aren't lazy either. neither are they unclean or irresponsible. tooth decay doesn't make you a bad person. you don't deserve mockery, judgement, or tooth pain for having any. the only thing people with tooth decay deserve is healthcare.

Dental engineer here. Everything about this is true. I’ve seen 20s something needing a full teeth set up. Even though they have no reason to tell us, one of them explained their whole medical history so we “don’t think he has a bad hygiene or something”. Boy even if it was the case we would do it. Some people breaks teeth during sport, some have medical condition that affects their gengival blood distribution (ir anything really), some have mental disorders that makes them forget or are totally unable to brush their teeth, and that’s okay.

getting out of tracks about the og post, but I want to say it: it doesn’t matter if your tooth decay is because of one cause or another (which includes “bad” hygiene to me) you don’t deserve mockery or pain. Every body is different and some has issues with a “too good” hygiene (had cases of gengival loss due to too much teeth brushing) and that’s okay.

Every single case of tooth issues deserves care and help.

I love it when pets do the thing where they've clearly figured out that certain steps result in an outcome, but they can't quite DO it themselves.

The cat understands that their food is in this container, and that their human gets it, and brings it to the dishes, and then there's food.

But having no thumbs has prevented them from their triumph.

I on the other hand love that he insists on using the bowl even though he could probably just rip/chew a hole in the bag.

Which indicates that he's probably not quite sure WHICH of the steps are crucial so he's earnestly repeating them all.
