These two literally are always in a situation
honestly even the highest concept sci-fi seems tame once you learn BioSteel™ Goats exist irl
What the fuck are you talking about
you know. the spider goats. the goats spliced with spider genes.
they shoot bulletproof webbing out of their udders!
ok ok that last part’s not technically true, but the truth is still pretty nifty:
- yes these goats really exist! in most ways they are normal goats, except for how they secrete spider silk in their milk
- (or rather, they secrete a special protein in their milk, which is then extracted and woven into silk fibers)
- their DNA contains transplanted genes taken from the Golden Orb Weaver Spider, whose silk is incredibly strong–but can’t be naturally produced in large quantities. because…spiders are tiny ya’ll.
- these
superpowered web-slinging spidergoatsgenetically modified but otherwise normal and healthy goats can produce much larger amounts of this material (marketed as BioSteel), which is stronger than steel and more bulletproof than kevlar. plus it’s lightweight, elastic, and bio-compatible (compatible with living tissue), meaning it has a ton of potential industrial and medical applications. - (imagine 40 years from now you need knee surgery, and your doctor sits you down and explains that your shiny new anterior cruciate ligament was actually artificially woven out of SPIDER GOAT MILK SILK. also in this magical hypothetical future we have universal healthcare. and the wealth of all billionaires has been globally redistributed. this is my hypothetical scenario, i do what i want.)
- like i said. pretty nifty!
- and here is a photo of one such genetically modified BioSteel™ Goat, her name is Freckles
May I add the fantastic glow in the dark cats. They’ve been tagged with a gene from jelly fish that causes them to glow and that can be passed down. Was used to help study how other genes were passed.
for those wondering, yes glow-in-the-dark jellyfish cats are a real thing and they are helping scientists with AIDS research
I love how this reads as if the cats are actively choosing to assist with scientific research.

i think a loving thing u can do for yourself before a solo trip is to have a line item in ur budget, as critical and untouchable as Plane Tickets and Lodging, called Stupid. this money cannot be used for anything other than bailing u out of stupid situations
sometimes the Stupid moments are obvious like “my designated in-bag phone charger™️ is missing and my phone’s dying” or “i can’t find the goddamn bus stop it’s getting really late”, but sometimes they’re small like “huh the food at this bar i wanted to go to is pretty expensive”. the temptation to do the risky but cheap thing (walking around with a dead phone, getting lost, drinking on an empty stomach) over the expensive but safe thing (buy another charger at the closest shop, call a cab, pay too much for some mid-ass chicken gyozas bc though you do want to try the signature local beer it’s been a minute since you ate anything) is mitigated. it’s fine, u can assure yourself. take it out of the Stupid Budget

Update from the man himself
The Porn Guy aka The Nice Guy aka The Canadian side of Pornhub aka SFW Pornhub’s REAL NAME is Ryan Creamer. No joke, that is legit his real name.
Also this.
Which led him to this.
Bless this man.
I can appreciate him and the service he’s providing independently of the shitshow that is the platform he’s hosted on.
He remains just as funny and weird on other platforms dw
By the way, the topic he was presenting was
‘Can I get an Honorary Degree if I Just Ask Really Nicely’
I feel like the big push for AI is starting to flag. Even my relatively tech obsessed dad is kinda over it. What do you even use it for? Because you sure as hell dont want to use it for fact checking.
There's an advertisement featuring a woman surreptitiously asking her phone to provide her with discussion topics for her book club. And like... what. Is this the use case for commercial AI? This the best you could come up with? Lying to your friends about Moby Dick?
One of the big pushes tech companies are making for AI is entirely in the tool of convenience. Take Gemini for example, one of Google's really big pitches for it is in features like Help Me Read and Help Me Write, which are like the lowest tier use case for deep learning models but are also the two AI features that the average consumer will actually care about. Sure they advertise the GenAI stuff Gemini Advanced is able to do, but they've woken up to the idea that the average consumer does not care about GenAI and non-AI Bros fundamentally loathe GenAI.
Every company with a language model got sucked into the venture capital pitfall of AI and now have to market the one set of features the general person actually cares about.
I work in advertising and the culture shift surrounding AI even from January until now (end of March) has been drastic. At the beginning of the year, the company I work for was using AI to design most of their assets. Clients started coming back and requesting that we no longer use AI generated images or videos for copyright liability reasons. Basically, there's no way to tell whose art or photography was scalped to make an image, so as companies who are trying to make a profit using potentially stolen images, it puts them in a gray area, legally.
Also, companies do look at their comment sections. Anti-AI commenters on social media ("this is not a real image" "I don't trust companies who use AI" etc) are seen by higher ups of a company. Basically, keep bullying brands who use AI, it's working. Now my company uses almost no AI for deliverables, which is a huge win.
Seething as I learn that my asshole landlord and my dumb roommate threw away dozens of books, some of them antiques, because they thought they were useless.
managed to save a few (I'll keep some and donate others) but several piles (including really nice leather tomes on local history and a pre-WWII edition of Machiavelli's The Prince that I thought was really cool) are gone to no return.
Apparently they called the local library and asked if they wanted them, and the local library said yes, but then the landlord wanted to have THEM come HERE to pick up the books, as if the library were this infinitely funded money machine that can go around door to door to pick up books (and do it in the span of 48 hours like an at-call garbage disposal service) instead of, you know, doing what any nice person would do and taking the fucking books to the fucking library in your huge fucking Jeep.
I hate life. I hate people. I hate these people in particular.

that was snippy lol but you have honest to god got to get over the propaganda spoonfed to you about heroin and meth in particular. no they are not magic evil killers that instantly take over your brain like an invasive fungus no there is no such thing as any drug or medical intervention that is 100% risk free. you already know heroin and meth users they are members of your communities and social circles and societies not bogeymen from a childrens book. this kneejerk treatment of heroin and meth like they're uniquely addictive and dangerous and too awful to even be spoken is racialised & classed & it kills people. get over itttt
if you use prescription stimulant medication (addressing my own demographic here) or are supportive of people who do, you really need to deconstruct your biases and stereotypes of street meth users. we are the same people, in many cases using the same drug.
if you weren't identified as having ADHD before you started using meth, realized it allowed you to clean your space, engage with your hobbies after work, get into novel and exciting situations with new people, then recognized you'd developed an addiction AND THEN sought legitimate help? now you are most likely not ever going to be allowed to access the prescription stimulant medications other people with ADHD can because you have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder first.
dear fellow legally sanctioned amphetamine (& related) users: how long would it take if you stopped being able to fill your Adderall prescription to look for another source of methamphetamine, even if it wasn't as safe? how long would it take if you stopped being able to fill your methylphenidate prescription before you decided it might be worth trying amphetamines, even if they tend to have more side effects?
when I take my medication as prescribed and don't feel hungry all day, sleep much less than when I'm not taking it, get muscle spasms in my eyes, and get very irritable when I'm coming down from it those are normal and expected side effects I was counselled on when I started and can openly discuss at my medication management appointments, where I can adjust my dosage or even try a different formulation to minimize them and maximize the desired effects. when someone uses street meth and experiences the same effects (maybe more severely, since they have less control over their dosage or method of ingestion, and taking a lot of a drug is helpful if you feel like shit and want to feel different) it's scary, it's evidence they're dangerous or unstable, they're just a crazy tweaker, and they are at risk of harassment by civilians and police, easily leading to fines and incarceration.
I know not all recreational meth users will meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, but seriously. there isn't a meaningful distinction between like, good, productive, legal stimulant use and bad, recreational, illegal stimulant use. If you've ever taken your stimulant medication later in the day so you can go to an event while it's still in your system and have the energy to socialize more, or used an extra dose (or, like me, have an additional immediate release dose for the explicit purpose of being able to decide to take it later in the day if I think it would be helpful) so you can finish a personal project after work, you can understand why someone might want to use meth "just for fun".
generally speaking "minimise caffeine" is good advice but you should absolutely not look up how much caffeine anyone who says that is drinking on any given day, because their numbers might embolden you to undershoot them and keep on keeping on
ahh yeah you gotta cut back, knew this kid at work who was drinking 8 energy drinks a day with a caffeine pill and coffee and after two years he had a heart attack so watch out but otherwise no wozzas ahaha hey what are you doing
