the thing about the connection between dragons and dinosaurs is that people act like dinosaurs were invented in the 1800s but like humans have been digging holes in the ground for millennia
the concept of EXTINCTION is pretty recent though (shout out to my boy darwin) so in discovering a shitload of big bones the standard response tended to be "fuck these guys are just out there somewhere"
