- i'm in dreblr but not in dreamblr/dtblr. i will gladly chat about DSMP characters for days on end but i don’t have any interest in the CCs, sorry! my fanworks are not informed by anything going on with the CCs. you will only find strictly fictional mcyt content on this blog. nothing i create is RPF!

Hello hi, hope you’re having a nice day. I was wondering if you had a reading list or anything that informs your writing? A la the opening notes to ouroboros style? House of Leaves, Piranesi, Hill House etc. etc.
If not don’t worry about it, but thought I’d ask because I’d love to know what you’re reading!!
stuff that influenced ouroboros was mostly alive house type media, so yeah, piranesi, HoL, hill house — also skinamarink and anatomy by kittyhorrorshow. coup de grace by sofia ajram didn't influence ouroboros because it came out after the fic was finished, but that's a very ouroboros ass book so u should check it out. anything with anomalous architecture. also a big fan of time loop media which is a related genre in my head somehow??
this is not writing but if u liked the unreliable narrator stuff, you should also unironically check out rashomon. old japanese movie about the same core set of events, but retold multiple times through different characters' perspectives, and each character remembers the events in very different ways. fun commentary on repressed/invented memory. also not a book but uhh twin peaks also has some really cool stuff going on with place-as-trauma-nexus, and how personal/community trauma splits open reality and creates a new reality. can't say anything else because I wouldn't want to spoil but foundational weird media twin peaks ily foreverrrr <3
can't think of anything else but here's some books that slapped my dick and balls:
metal from heaven by august clarke
my heart is a chainsaw by stephen graham jones
the unspoken name by ak larkwood
johannes cabal series by jonathan L howard
locked tomb trilogy. ur on tumblr so u know this one
the buried giant by kazuo ishiguro (lots of fun stuff here with collective amnesia and community trauma)
the bartimaeus trilogy which is technically for kids but jesus christ it's brutal
exordia by seth dickinson
metal from heaven in particular had me foaming at the mouth. fair warning: ppl either love it or hate it, seemingly, so you might hate it. it made me crazy. legitimately the most tender, respectful, joyous depiction of lesbian subculture and stone butch experience i've ever read in a fantasy book. there's motorcycles. there's strap-sucking. it has an insane anime ending.
Obsessed with characters who portray themselves as worse than they are. Who are lying to everyone including themselves about it. People generally assume if someone's lying about themselves they're trying to look better but sometimes they're trying to look worse. They attribute agency to where they had none, add intend to accidents, try to convince everyone that this is something they did instead of something that happened to them.
THEY MAKE ME SO ILL SO BAD 😭 it's crazy how fast they fell apart like literally one thing made them break up help. But when it had just been them, everything was perfect.
writing any scene where cdream has nightmares needs... such careful structuring
dream doesn't normally have dreams, but when he does dream, they're nightmares (not his armor). dream dreams a dream, but it's a nightmare (not his armor). one could say that dream is dreaming a BAD dream. a bad, bad dream.
Au where Quackity manages to convince Sam to have Dream in Las Nevadas by installing a tracker on him but that really does jackshit because Dream just runs away and they can't catch up to him
I have the idea that the revive book from the start was given to destroy the person with it, that as you go along following whatever instructions and information is inside it - the more it will reveal to you. Until you reach the end and the final page says basically you've ruined everything chasing after what you thought would fix it. A big joke. Major slap in the face for Drunz. 💔
the monkey’s paw comes free with your necromancy tome
