One of the reasons why I love Gintama is that romantic attraction is almost always unrequited, and you get the understanding that it's on the person feeling the romantic attraction if they're, like, a nuisance about it. Very freeing for an aro. Yes you're a stalker yes it's your fault you've made it weird. Yes people still feel attraction and it's normal but it's just as normal for it to go nowhere. On the other hand. When are Gintoki and MADAO going to get gay married and be in real proper love and then get a bitter divorce that leaves them still with a lingering fondness and bone deep understanding of each other. I need shinpachi and kagura to be children of divorce. Hijikata and Takasugi and Oboro are Gintoki's foil in different ways but MADAO is his soulmate. I hate compulsory romance but it's compulsory for Gintoki and MADAO to have a shotgun wedding after they slept together. I'm holding the shotgun if it helps.
people asking gintoki so what the fuck is up with that guy about takasugi. except they didn’t really ask before shoass. probably because they could tell he didn’t want to be asked. but it’s so insane that gintoki just knew all that the entire time like that’s what he was thinking when he met takasugi in the festival ep. that’s what he was thinking when he saw him in benizakura. it’s soooo crazy that for almost the entirety of the series for literally 300+ episodes completely unspoken gintoki is fully aware that takasugi is being evil because he wants to kill himself and that he’s angry at him. and that he loves him. 300+ episodes of gintoki fully aware, whenever he thought about takasugi, that takasugi never stopped caring about him, that he wouldn’t have been as deeply scarred if he had cared less about gintoki. but there’s nothing to be DONE about that. that’s just life. your responsibilities don’t change, the fact that takasugi is a villain now doesn’t change. but it’s just one more weight gintoki carries silently throughout the story. and like? obviously it’s important. but it’s also. not a big deal. because there are so many other weights and all of them are important. and. that’s just life

Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that gaslight gatekeep girlboss meme, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you think modern feminism has been co-opted by corporations. But what you don’t know is that that meme is not from Instagram, it's not from Twitter, it's not from Tiktok, it’s actually from Tumblr. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in January 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, "today's agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss." And then I think it was a-m-e-t-h-y-s-t-r-o-s-e, wasn’t it, who reblogged it with an image of the phrase edited over a piece of "Live, Laugh, Love" wall art? And then gaslight gatekeep girlboss showed up in the feeds of eight different Twitter repost accounts. Then it filtered down through Instagram and then trickled on down into some tragic “alt side of Tiktok” where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that meme represents millions of notes and countless Tumblr users and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from Tumblr when, in fact, you’re wearing the meme that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of “stuff.”

i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said "your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising" one of the tags responding said "this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome" like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.
There's a disconnect happening here because the primary function of social media for most casual users is to form a circle of friends around the usual things that friendships are built on: shared interests and lifestyles and ideas of what is important and what is unacceptable. When people are mainly doing leftism on social media, this encourages thinking of leftism as centered around establishing high-minded social clubs.
For anyone who still isn't getting it from someone who helps people IRL: There's a difference between whom you're helping to feed at the mealshare and whom you're choosing to hang out with for fun after the mealshare. You don't have to invite a hungry person with opinions you don't like to play board games with you, but you do have to help keep them from starving if you're serious about leftist organizing.
This print was very popular on my shop for a couple of years, which I’m delighted about, I’m only slightly annoyed that it’s stopped selling now that I finally ordered a hundred copies of it. Oh well.
