Regardless of your stance on AI, I think we can agree that having no way for users to opt out of these pictures is deeply concerning, specially when Discord is often used to share selfies. While this isn't entirely related to a 'scam' topic per-se, I'm sharing this here so the artists that follow me are aware of this.

If you share your art to a discord full of people who aren't your friends, they can now edit your artwork with builtin gen-AI apps that discord offers.

There is no option or way to turn off this feature.

If you post art to Discord, I suggest heavily water marking it or using a colorful gradient filter to make it so that if an AI tries to scrape it to edit/manipulate it, it will make it look weird/wonky.

Also, to help combat the recent uprise of art theft and 'this is my art you're a hacker' art thieves on tumblr, I suggest posting your art with a lattice style watermark like this:

Lattice meaning that it covers your art like, well, a lattice!

If someone is going to steal it and 'edit out your signature', they're going to have to put a lot of work into it and play hell doing so lol.

Also, don't use Twitter aka shitter as you can edit images like this now too with Grok.

I took absolutely no pleasure writing this article, but I have a lot of research around obscenity law and historical precedents for this that I know nobody else has access to, and getting the information out there is crucial right now 😔

The core thesis of this article - one that echoes much of the other advice that I’ve seen floating around leftist spheres over the past week - is that our best defense against this type of censorship is mass grassroots action. If every person who reads this picked five books they want to preserve and five people they want to share this with, it would have a much broader impact than if a singular group of readers attempts to document and archive the entire corpus.

A centralized preservation effort can do immense work, of course, but it won’t be accessible to the trans people who need to read trans books and see trans joy to survive whatever comes next.
