Monster/Proclivity β°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 7
Contrary to his own assumptionsβbased mostly on extreme body dysphoria and self-loathingβVincent's "condition" gives him a lot to offer to the right partner. Cloud has some unique interests that happen to make him a perfect option in that regard.
I don't think any Strifentine event is complete without a little monsterfucking, so here we are! Nothing visible because I couldn't get a pose that worked, but honestly I'm really happy with this.
and the final fic can be found HERE! this was such a blast and i love @getvalentined for not only organising this event but for creating such inspiring pieces!

Endearment/Admission β°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 6
While Vincent is less likely to initiate, I like to think he's much more aggressive than most people assume based on his general demeanor. (Cloud certainly wasn't expecting it, but he's not complaining.)
Shelter/Trust/βif you're willing to leadββ°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 5
I've illustrated this concept with Vincent multiple times before, but it never gets old. Vincent is quite tall, and that cloak has so much utility! It's normal. There is no reason for anyone to be blushing over this. He does this for everyone. (He does not.)
Nostalgia/βsome stories are best forgottenβ β°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 4
One thing that FF7R has been really good at in comparison to the rest of the Compilation is showcasing quieter moments, character interactions outside the main storyline. I'm hoping to see more of them in the third partβthese two could really use some quiet time together. They have a lot to talk about.
I didn't meant for this event to be my Dramatic Lighting Extravaganza but I guess that's what we're doing.
okay so I know slur song was banned from the club chart BUT fun fact: to make it into the lower end of the itunes charts you only need to sell like 50 songs in a day so if you have 50 friends with a dollar to spare and an iphone ... well
omg that would be so funny. I definitely don't have 50 friends I could expose this song to but thankyouuuuu!
lets goooooo
this country has the chance to do the funniest thing
aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!1!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Holy shit
this is an actual accomplishment and I wonder if we can get it higher
Sometimes the experience of using tumblr is roughly akin to giving a child a limitless supply of red cordial and a bazooka
slur song #10 !!
WHAT!?!
I am going to lie down and stare at the ceiling for a bit
I WAS GONE FOR FIVE MINUTES, WHAT THE HELL TUMBLR
Aloof/Hollow/βlike we're missing somethingββ°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 3
I love the idea of the Protomateria glowing bright enough sometimes to be visible through Vincent's ribcage. Such a cool mental image.
Not much commentary on this one except to say that I spent way too long on it. Vincent is supposed to be a bit more worn-out looking but it wasn't working so I gave up for now. It gets the concept across, at least.
Entwine/βif I go with youβ β°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 2
I don't imagine Cloud is particularly used to being protected, but Vincent does it several timesβI'd imagine he started on it quite early in their time together. It takes a bit, but Cloud eventually comes to really appreciate Vincent's protective nature. It's nice to know someone will be there to save him, especially when he's the one everyone else turns to when they need saving.
This isn't as finished as I'd like, but I'm on a time limit to get it posted today, so up it goes! I can always go back and do more later.
Hidden/Discarded/βa sealed up secretβ β°οΈβοΈβ°οΈ @strifentineweek Day 1
I think a lot about how Vincent and Cloud were mortally wounded over the same project, and experimented on in the same lab by the same person. Were they kept in the same tank? Submerged in the same mako, specially refined for use in the lab and thus recirculated over and over?
It was all decades apart, but I don't think you can get much more "kindred spirit" than that.
i'm so tired of the yaoi-ification of mlm ships where people feel the need to make one of them (usually the fandom-assigned bottom) into a teeny tiny waifish twink and the other into a huge musclebound super aggro guy (usually the fandom-assigned top) i know this is like a thing many people have been saying for years but i just feel like it has never actually gotten better in fandom spaces. the fatphobia of it, the gender essentialism, the homophobia, it's all so fucking annoying it makes me want to scream
^^^ absolutely agree with both of these, that's been a big trend particularly in the last several years. i think people truly do not realize how much they're replicating gender essentialism when they do trans headcanons like that and how much it perpetuates transphobic ideas. it's just gross and weird and as a trans person it feels awful to see people repeatedly pigeonhole every guy they view as a bottom as a tiny transmasc twink or every transmasc guy as a small feminine bottom. it's just exhausting.
and in a broader sense i think people don't realize how much they're boiling down all the different ways people can express themselves and have sex and relationships when they do this kind of thing. acting like the only possible mlm relationship is "big masculine top x tiny feminine bottom" goes completely against the varied lived experiences of so many people and contributes to this overall idea that relationships can only resemble cisheteropatriarchal ideals. even straight relationships between cis people don't usually look like this! you're falling for an invented fantasy that serves to maintain systemic hierarchies!
and that's not even getting into the race angle of it all-- the idea that men of color are more sexually aggressive is SO pervasive that people cannot even fathom why it's an issue to always automatically assume a man of color will be the top in a relationship with a white man. it's particularly pervasive with black and latino men and it's so obviously racist and yet people do not seem to understand when they themselves are perpetuating it. and i'll add that for asian men specifically it's often the opposite; asian men are frequently emasculated and viewed as the inherent bottoms in relationships with non-asian men.
i also want to point out that wlw relationships are not exempt from any of these dynamics either. frequently people decide on one woman in a relationship being the top or the domme (which i will point out very strongly are NOT the same thing, but are often conflated, particularly in fandom spaces) entirely based on arbitrary traits that follow with their own cultural assumptions. women of color are seen as inherently less feminine, inherently more sexually aggressive, and therefore nearly always viewed as tops. asian women are treated like inherently submissive objects rather than their own people, and are often depicted as the demure bottoms in wlw relationships with non-asian women.
in both regards, and obviously including the various ways that nonbinary and genderqueer people are affected by all of these dynamics, people of color, as the exoticized other to white, western fans, are viewed as having strict, unchangeable roles in sexual dynamics which further other racial stereotypes and erase the actual varied experiences and relationships between people. all of these dynamics cement cultural assumptions within fandom spaces. and it's just really fucking obvious how pervasive gender essentialism and racism are in fandom when i see people talk about ships with such stringent roles and dynamics, without any nuance or acknowledgement of the kinds of mentalities being replicated.
unless you can provide solid and actual proof of "toxic" or "nasty" behaviour within fandom, shut the fuck up and stay in your lane. don't have receipts? then stop trying to bully people whose opinion you disagree with.
some of you are shameless, hiding behind anonymous. absolute cowardly behaviour.
EDIT: i should not have to clarify but! correcting misinformation about canonical events does not count as toxic or nasty behaviour. having a different opinion does not count as toxic or nasty behaviour. being critical of a character does not count as toxic or nasty behaviour. you know what counts as toxic and nasty behaviour? bullying.
Sephiroth, once a promising young lawyer, is now a struggling artist. Genesis gave up his dreams and has become a successful businessman. What happens when their worlds collide? Don't miss Silence Beneath the Deep Sea,notcoming to major streaming platforms this summer!
Had a fun time with this; I wanted it to look like one of those big cardboard displays you'd see at a theater or some kind of popular media event, titles and credits and all. The fic (written by @takenbynumbers!) is heavy on K-drama vibes, which gave me a pretty clear mental image. (Most important to this image is Sephiroth's shirt fighting for its fucking life.)
this is officially finished! :) silence beneath the deep sea

99.99% of rap haters have never even listened to rap. or if they have it's like one gangsta rap song & they treat the genre as a monolith and act like it's representative of every rap song ever. and well of course they are also just racist
first & last line still stand even if rap was a monolith and all rap was gangsta rap. btw
Rap is great! Everyone knows the worst genre of music is country
99.99% of country haters have never even listened to country. or if they have it's like one post-9/11 pop country song by a rich poser & they treat the genre as a monolith and act like it's representative of every country song ever. and well of course they are also just classist
