If someone really loves a work of fanfiction that they’ve written and they decide that they want to write it into a novel, where is the problem? Why is it that people want to tear down other people who decide they want to take a concept that they created and evolved it into something else? The only person that has any kind of claim on who they’ve made their character characters to be are themselves, and trying to put people down and make them think that their work is not good enough to be turned into fiction isn’t accomplishing anything and it just makes you look like garbage for trying to police how someone chooses to write. Yes some concepts are hard to change from fanfiction/fandom to an original work, but if the author wants to do that and thinks that they can succeed we should absolutely be lifting those people up and cheer them on in their creative endeavors. Telling somebody that fanfiction isn’t writing or that they aren’t good enough to publish a novel is shitty behavior and some of y’all need to look in the mirror and realize that your insecurities are your own and don’t need to be projected onto other people. If you love your fic and want to make them original characters, do it! The world is your oyster baby. The worst thing that could happen is that you wouldn’t write it because people tried to make you feel bad and you missed the opportunity to do something fulfilling. There are so many works that started out on Tumblr and wattpad that have become published and now even have movies and tv shows. You have to start somewhere, why not now?
