I loved this! It was funny and laidback and filled with found family. I loved that Reyna and Kianthe weren’t the picture perfect couple. They fought over things, bickered lovingly like an old married couple, and talked about what they each needed from their relationship. It was sweet and funny and real. I also loved that they made a place for themselves in their community that felt welcoming to everyone. It was just really nice to get lost in this book for a little while. It’s getting four out of five stars!

2025 Reading Challenges:

Read More Queer: sci-fi or fantasy

Wish more people were protesting??

Here's the thing, fellas. What people need, before we act is,Β we need evidence that other people are also doing the thing.

It's called "Social Proof" and its baked into our neurology. It's a big part of the reason so few people are participating in the resistance right now. It's why the news not covering the protests is such a brutally effective tactic. And why the lack of cohesive dem leadership is such a blow.

It's also literally THE EASIEST effective action to take irl, andΒ it's impossible to do wrongΒ - thank the gods!Β

*** GET VISIBLE ***

about your beliefs. Fly a flag, make a car sign, yard sign, window sign, bumper sticker, wear a big patch, paint a hoodie, paint a mural, paint rocks - ANYTHING.Β Do anything that's VISIBLE.

The more we show, the more it tells other people's brains that they can act too. Is this signaling?? You betcher ass it is. What it's NOT though, is empty signaling. In this time with corporate virtue signaling melting like wet kleenex, a lot of folks are wondering who has their backs.Β Well thats US. WE have your backs. We have OUR backs. The more we show, the fewer nazi's feel empowered to act. The fewer bootlicking officials think they can bowl over your town.Β Every not visibly progressive space is a space nazis will assume shares their white supremacist values.Β

Even if your people are not "political yard sign people" they may be able to be convinced that now is the time to get tacky with it. See ifΒ you can get the neighbors on either side of youΒ to Get Visible (against fascism) with youΒ - or the whole block - there isΒ safety in numbers! I understand it may not be safe for you, and obviously please run that equation. Possibly leave more art/signs in public spaces. But leave room to be surprised at who wants to participate in fighting fascism.

This week,Β commit to doing 1 thing to Get Visible, and toΒ get 1 other person to Get Visible too. Pause now to put in on your to-do/calendar, I’ll wait :] Okay great, now think of 1 friend to video call with later, and make it crafty fun. Go ham!! Tell us in the comments, or rb with pics to help inspire the rest of us to GET VISIBLE. It may seem small or silly but it's very literally how YOU can get this movement off the ground and fucking save our country and our people.

My Mini Library Haul!

I stopped at my library and perused their fiction section. There were soooooo many to choose from, but these three called to me the most.

-The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies by Alison Goodman

Mystery, Historical Fiction, Regency Romance

All very high points of interest for me, haha!

-The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo

Historical Fiction, Fantasy Fiction, Ghost Story, Fairy Tale, Domestic Fiction

I think I'm gonna watch the Netflix series after I read this. Maybe I'll do a compare and contrast to share my thoughts on here when I'm done!)

-Paint and Nectar by Ashley Clark [2nd book of the Heirloom Secrets series]

1.The Dress Shop on King Street

2. Paint and Nectar

3. Where the Last Rose Blooms

Romance, Historical Fiction

I may hold off on this one and read the first book instead. My rule of thumb is always read the first book of the series, and decide from there. If I don't like the first book or struggle to engage with it, I don't continue (which is why I make sure I'm in the right mind set before I start a series. I'm all for giving it a fair shot).

Anywho, I'll let you know what I think when I finish these beauties! Happy reading, everyone!

21.03.2025 // day 393 // enjoying that early autumn weather

SHOW UP FOR OUR LIBRARIES! πŸ“š CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSPEOPLE!

Here’s a couple actual links to concrete things you can do to help, as determined by the American Library Association, who already stopped this maniac from doing this once. There are many smart & experienced people fighting for libraries & museums, but they need your help too.

This link allows you to send your personal library story directly to Congress: https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=23577

And this is a straightforward petition you can sign in about a minute: https://action.everylibrary.org/eoimls2025

And if you want an easy way to contact your Congresscritters directly, text 50409 or search for ResistBot on Telegram to email, call or fax you Congresscritters. Libraries support democracy & are the last free reliably available 3rd Space in America. This is absolutely an emergency as serious as any of the other major institutional destructions so far this year.
