By popular demand, i have inflicted character design on dear Lalwen. When thinking abt her, I had to consider a couple different things, bc tolkien really gave me jack shit to work with. So, essentially here are the headcannons this drawing is based on.

  • Lalwen was one of Fingolfin, and then Fingon's most important advisors. She would have been the same to Turgon but u know, couldn't reach him bc gondolin, and subsequently served as the major authority in the wider Noldor world in the wake of the Nirnaeth, since their Hing King was Somewhat inaccessible. Essentially, she regented for every Nolofinwinion king, but especially during the unstable succession periods.
  • I refuse to believe that Feanor invented every single important noldorin tech and I'm stuck between attributing the palantiri to Curufin, and to Lalwen. So, she's got a palantir there, but it could either be showing off this cool thing she made, or symbolizing her as the voice of the High King under Turgon's reign.
  • And finally, I gave her a chatelaine because i think it's a very good symbole of "the lady of the house" that the victorian era offered us. And I think it really suits her.

Our favorite eldritch and less than sane beach bard, for day 2 of Feanorian week! I drew a very young and pleasant Nelyo for yesterday, so I thought it'd be fun to do crazy old Maglor today. I did try to make a more cropped version so you didn't have to see my messy sketchbook pages, but it just wasn't looking right (and the size didn't work well in a post). So please enjoy the random doodles, smudges, a stick helping me hold the page down, and what may or may not be a sneak peak for what's to come on the left ;0.
