so uuhhh, yeah, mozilla is kind of starting to go, like, full-on evil megacorp, and its time to start thinking about alternatives to the platform.

β€œwhen you upload or input information through Firefox, you hereby grant us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that information"

this quote comes from the new mozilla EULA change that was made last week. mozilla has also erased all of its promises not to sell your data from its website. which is like ... you know ... the reason why people use firefox????

mozilla has spent the last few days doing damage control after the change sparked intense backlash from its users. people are speculating that this probably had something to do with their Mozilla AI project (ew), but mozilla has since refuted these claims - just like every other ai tech company.

either way, these events are part of a long series of ... frustrating management decisions from mozilla regarding privacy and funding, like working with facebook and greedily laying off 30% of their staff.

we, as users, need to start looking for alternatives to firefox - this post will focus on librewolf, which is a fork of firefox that is not affiliated with mozilla.

in other words, librewolf is a modified version of firefox that was created in 2020 to be more (actually) private and secure. unlike firefox, librewolf features no telementary (ie, adware), and it has no ads (period).

if you already use firefox, you can easily switch over to librewolf and transfer all of your plugins, bookmarks, search history, and themes. you can transfer your entire firefox profile to librewolf manually, but its faster / easier to just use firefox sync (NOTE: sync is disabled on librewolf by default, but it can still be re-enabled in the librewolf settings. i rlly recommend that you disable it again after transferring all of your account data).

If there's something you've wanted to tell me, then say it today.

it's devastating to see the aftermath of the israeli genocide on gaza. an entire city that was a home to two million people has been turned into rubble and made into a mass grave for hundreds of thousands of people.

we maintain hope that gaza will be rebuilt. that her people will return and be able to live with some sense of normalcy despite the events of the last fifteen months.

it's just so surreal to see people believe that the fight for a free palestine is over and that we've 'won'. a ceasefire is a very crucial step but it is the first of many steps in the liberation of palestine.

im here to remind you to continue to escalate for palestine until it is free. continue to help in whatever way you can. continue to donate to families who are trying to recover from the horrors they've survived. continue to care for other human beings.

i also request you to donate to alaa's fundraiser and help her give a better life to her children. her fundraiser has been verified.

there have only been four donations made in the last two days. please consider helping out alaa rebuild her house 🀍

"A UN Special Rapporteur confirms that the israelis kill Palestinian women deliberately to prevent population growth as one of its tools of genocide"

"The UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Salama, confirmed that the Israeli occupation army has used the killing of women and the targeting of reproductive health as tools for genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Salama said in a press statement on Sunday that β€œIsrael’s attacks on Palestinian women are part of a systematic genocide strategy.” She added, β€œWhen looking at Israel’s actions overall, it is clear that targeting the reproductive capacity of Palestinians in particular serves this purpose.”

She emphasized that β€œthe killing of Palestinians simply for being women is considered a war crime and a crime against humanity,” noting that the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide also prohibits acts of genocide aimed at preventing reproduction within a group. ..."

I am Hanaa, a resident of Gaza City, specifically in the northern Gaza Strip. I am 38 years old. I live with my eight children and my husband in the Gaza Strip. Before the war on Gaza began, I was living a happy life with my children and my husband. We had a monthly income that was sufficient to meet our needs and fulfill our requests. When the war on Gaza began on 10/7/2023, we lived as homeless people after our entire house was bombed at the beginning of the war. We were displaced to countless areas since the first day of the war. After more than 200 days of the war, one of my sons was martyred and two others were injured while trying to find us food to satisfy our hunger. I became fully responsible for him after my eldest son was martyred and the other two were seriously injured. My children, my husband and I live in displacement camps. We have no other shelter. For the sake of God, help me feed my children and build a home for us. Donate to me, even if it is a little, because I need your help.

palestinians who lived in north gaza are finally being allowed to return to their homes after over a year of relentless displacement. faten (@/familyfaten) is making the long trek back home to where the family lived in jabalia. but for faten, it's a complicated moment, since her future lay outside gaza even before the genocide.

before oct. 2023, faten had gotten engaged. her fiance lived outside of gaza and she was set to travel for their wedding. they've been separated for well over a year, facing nothing but uncertainty. she's endured uncountable losses, somehow found a way to push through every miserable moment with grace, found a way not to collapse under her frustration and her agony and despair. she survived a fucking genocide.

with the borders now open, faten wants nothing more than to finally be reunited with her husband-to-be. this can be a moment of joy, of celebration, of a new beginning that she so, so, SO deserves.

please donate what you can to help faten evacuate

"I am Khawla from Gaza, 34 years old. I stand before you as a person trying to support her family of 5: Me, my husband, and my three children: Muhammad, who is 5 years old; Sham, who is 3 years old; and Ghazal, who is nearly a year and a half old. In our terrible conditions, My son Muhammad contracted hepatitis from drinking contaminated water, and both he and Sham are deprived of their right to register in kindergarten, daycare, or other educational institutions. Additionally, due to the circumstances and lack of income, necessary benefits like milk are not provided to baby Ghazal.πŸ«‚πŸ’™πŸ₯Ί

With that, my husband's livelihood ha been completely destroyed since we are no longer entitled to work; and we expect to live under miserable conditions in tents in Mawasi Khan Yunis. It is difficult for me to find the words to describe what we face every day in Gaza; with no food, no medicine, no clean drinking water; with oppression, helplessness, psychological pressures, doubts, and daily traumas caused by everything around us and inability to care for loved ones. the fear of danger, disease and death never leaves usπŸ‰πŸ«Ά

Now, I find myself in this difficult situation, and humbly ask for your help to save the lives of my family, especially my children, by getting us out of Gaza or helping us have money for medication or other necessities we may have access to. Asking for help is not easy, but we were left with no choice because we want to survive and we strive to rebuild our broken lives. We are very grateful for any help you can provide, no matter how small, as your help will contribute greatly to alleviating our suffering. I hope you will share my story with your family and friends."πŸ‰πŸ‰πŸ’™πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ

With the announcement of a ceasefire and plans to reopen a safe route back to north Gaza, the Al-Habil family are getting ready to go back home!

But the way ahead is still very difficult. Ibtisam's son Mohammed needs an urgent surgery to try to save his leg, and her daughter Nour needs ongoing medical care and a nutritious diet to live with her heart condition. Ibtisam herself is also still trying to treat severe back pain after a herniated disc.

In addition to all of this, the costs to travel back to their home in the north of Gaza are extremely high. Due to having multiple disabled individuals in their party, traveling by foot is impossible. This means they will have to hire a transport, which will cost thousands. The fact that disabled people are being exploited with such exorbitant prices is disappointing, but there is nothing we can do right now.

To meet the family's needs and arrange safe and accessible transportation, we will need about $6000 USD (about $8,619) CAD. We will raise it increments of $1,000 USD or $1,440 CAD.

Without your support, Ibtisam and her family are stranded in central Gaza, with no way to get home. They still have no income, and likely will not for some time. They should not be forced to remain in displacement, living in limbo on the streets of central Gaza, because of disability.

Please help this family get home!!
