wow i love this
One of the truest things I’ve ever heard is that people who say they’re “brutally honest” are more interested in the brutality than the honesty.
I had a friend once who told me a rule ahe was taught, that everything one says should be at least two of three things: Necessary, Kind, True.
I require Truth, to the best of my own ability.
Thus everything I say should also be Kind, Necessary, or both.
People who claim to be “Brutally Honest” often assert that it is necessary, and yet most of what they offer is often unsolicited, uneducated opinions.
This makes it quite clear that they are hiding the desire to exercise power over others behind a thin excuse of claimed virtue.
Cruelty is never a virtue.

Quick note: your brutal honesty? Ain’t nobody asking for that.
Where is your clever honesty? Your compassionate honesty? Your insightful honesty? Uplifting? Poetic? Empowering?
Take your brutal honesty and go sit in the back with all the devil’s advocates.
