‼️ATTENTION USAMERICANS IN PUBLIC HOUSING:

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has just signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Safety to use immigration info for folks that are on section 8 vouchers to help ICE find folks with illegal status.

Basically, if a family is living in public housing without the legal status, any information they might have shared with housing and urban development can/will be used to track them down. This is especially relevant with the crackdown on public facing community organizers and students who are vocal about the Palestinian genocide. If you or anyone you know is in this situation, make sure you are aware of what to do when in contact with immigration officers, know your rights, and keep in active touch with your community, seeing as people are being kidnapped, and whatever rights American Immigrants have been given are being blatantly ignored and systematically taken away.

Please share this information widely!

The new documentary The Encampments, produced by Watermelon Pictures and BreakThrough News, is an insider’s look at the student protest movement to demand divestment from the U.S. and Israeli weapons industry and an end to the genocide in Gaza. The film focuses on last year’s student encampment at Columbia University and features student leaders including Mahmoud Khalil, who was chosen by the university as a liaison between the administration and students. Khalil, a U.S. permanent resident, has since been arrested and detained by immigration enforcement as part of the Trump administration’s attempt to deport immigrants who exercise their right to free speech and protest.

Encampments sprung up at hundreds of campuses as students objected to their own university’s investment in the US and Israeli arms industry. The film takes viewers inside America’s student uprising with incredible intimacy and urgency. Professors, whistleblowers, and student activists shed light on a moment that captivated the nation’s attention and continues to make headlines today.

Opening weekend is this weekend in nyc at the Angelika Film Center. the film premieres nationwide starting next week, find tickets near you!

every single article, post or mention of a Muslim or Latino person on a Visa or Green Card getting dragged off the street by masked men in broad daylight has the same exact comments: "wow, they're gonna start doing this to citizens soon." some of these people have lived here since they were 8 months old and have lived here for over 30 years. it's very telling that Americans are still are managing to separate them in their head from a "citizen" and that their outrage will be far greater when it's someone who "actually lives here" as if 3 decades in the same country shouldn't qualify you for the same rights as everyone else.
