Post-Seine Javert is my favorite little guy. Like, he’s so sad and yet on the precipice of finding joy if he can find the courage…he’s in such an in-between state and it’s resonating with me a bit too much.

Jean Valjean saw all the pain and guilt Fantine felt over not being the perfect mother to Cosette and took it upon himself to continue that family tradition

JVJ be like 'I need you to love me and need me and be entirely dependent on me and I will do everything to cultivate this environment I love you' and then keep secrets and kill himself like a normal healthy person. Ugh, I love him

Me, writing: Should I make this section shorter?
Internet tip I read 5 years ago: Yes, of course. It’s nice but it’s not advancing the plot.
Me: yeah maybe you are right…
Tiny Victor Hugo living in my head: don’t listen to her. We need more. Add another 5000 words. And a detailed description of the sewers!
Me: yeah you’re so right

Finally time to share Fem Valvert! I tried figuring out how it would work in the canon era, especially the aspect of the story that happen in a prison where it would be very unlikely for Fem Valjean to hide her gender. I didn't really come to a good conclusion, please tell me your ideas I love their fem versions T^T

I’ve thought a lot about this, and here’s where I’ve landed.

For Valjean to gain status and money, I think the most plausible path is marriage—specifically, marrying a wealthy man with no family to inherit after him. That way, when he dies, everything goes to her. He could be the mayor of the town, maybe even own a factory, similar to Madeleine. So when she becomes a widow, she steps into both social power and financial independence.

Javert is trickier. I keep coming back to two possibilities. The first is that she lives as a man and joins the police force under that identity. It works on paper, but it doesn’t sit quite right with me. Javert is too committed to the truth, too principled, to maintain a lie like that for decades. It feels like a betrayal of her own values. Also I don't know how well she could do a deep male voice for that long, especially a deep old male voice.

The second option is less realistic, but for me it fits better: she’s an exception. Maybe someone high up saw her when she was young, he saw her discipline, her drive and decided to take a risk. He helped her (or convinced her to) become a police officer. And she made sure it wasn’t a mistake. She earned every bit of her position, even if the system bent a little to let her in.

Yup, still funny after 6 years…

hey pal it’s april. you got a time machine?

“why do you ship them?” because I like fun and sexy things

“why do you ship them?” ma’am this is a fandom space, not a test for moral superiority based on fictional gay characters

fandom is so weird you never know how old anyone is but you just kinda assume most of them are around your age until proven otherwise and then one day someone is talking about their 9 year old kid on your dash and another person is saying they just finished 10th grade. wild.

generally you shouldn't write run-on sentences because they get confusing and it doesn't give the reader a break. that doesn't apply to me though my run-on sentences are fun and understandable and they have a rhythm to it that makes you want to keep reading

maybe if you’re not a feminist then you’re just a misogynist and like… I don’t think there’s any “in between”. because feminism is not hating men. feminism is not thinking men deserve less than women. feminism is not rooting for manipulative females. feminism is not thinking abusive women should not face any consequences if their victims are men. feminism is not girlboss. feminism is not women superior. feminism is the belief that men and women are equal, so if you’re not a feminist then I think it’s safe to assume you think women deserve less than men, and that sounds misogynistic to me idk
