beautiful angel DESTROYED by cyclic back pain with no apparent cause…
honestly, a conclave musical would sLAP.
the conclave musical with
1. eulogy song called "the death of a pope" declaring that the pope is dead transitioning into a mass chorus les miserable style where everybodys interrupting each other, too busy preparing for conclave to mourn
2. tedescos obligatory villainous fascism song in the cafeteria where he starts off just ranting and then ends climbing up the tables and dancing to a wicked beat while his supporters chorus him
3. bellini is introduced with a "nobody wants to be pope" song, followed by an "EVERYBODY wants to be pope" reprise when he crashes out midway
4. lawrence, of course, has the most mourning, heartbreaking "memory" from cats like song where he begs to be able to pray
5. benitez has no song of his own but hijacks tedescos famous song in the climactic scene where he uses the same beat to musically bash politics and fascist imperialism
6. benitez also joins in with a lawrence song singing about how to pray
7. sabbadin singing. i dont know what he'll sing but he has to sing during the campaigning idc
8. chaotic scene of the conclave where tremblay gets exposed and everybodys on his side at first until sister agnes drops the bomb. scene ends with adeyemi saying "judas, " and everyone exits scene, leaving a sad tremblay desperate for votes on stage
9. "the death of a pope" reprise right at the ending when benitez reveals the truth. its the complete opposite from the beginning--going from chaotic and proud and busy to the quiet room of tears, reflecting on the death of vincent benitez and everything that it entails to create pope innocent
5 years ago today Willem Van Spronsen attacked the Tacoma ICE facility and was gunned down as he attempted to blow up the buses being used to transport prisoners. His last transmission is a banger if yinz wanna read it. it's not long.
One of Vincent's acts as supreme Pontiff was to plaster the papal office full with plants of any kind so it doesn't look so empty and devoid of the Lord's touch (and he doesn't feels so excluded from the outside and lonely anymore) and somehow word got out of his favour for plants and now at every visit and every meeting head of states and any prominent person gives him all kind of rare and exotic plants to him. And he loves them, all of them. But it's getting out of hand. So the Casa Santa Marta gets decorated in them. Oh and every visiting cardinal can choose to take one. Lawrence takes a plant home like every other week and it genuinely helped him with his faith and prayer. Ray took a few from Lawrence because it started to become more of a burden for him and they now help to ease his anxieties after a long day as he takes precise care of them. Tedesco was as always reluctant to take one but settled on a Venus flytrap, that feeds off his negative energy as he rants to it in his office in Venice. He also started to catch flies just to feed it and he started to view it as a sort of twisted child of his, not that he would admit to it. At all. The last one who had the courage to do so ended somehow dunked into a canal.
I'm reopening writing commissions while I'm out of work due to illness. It's $100 USD per 2k words, and I will do up to 6k per commission, with a $60 special for 1.5k one shots. You can check my AO3 in my pinned post for samples of my writing, including pieces done by request for others.
I can do scenes for OCs as well as fanfiction for any media I'm familiar with (just ask if you have something in mind). I specialize in erotica and intimate, character driven scenes, including dramatic or horrific scenes if desired. Weird kinks are welcome--if there is something strange you'd like to read (say, oviposition or transformation fetish, or something more niche), I'd be happy to write it for you. If the kink is the point and you have no characters in mind, please let me know so I can best write what you want to read.
Half of the total is due before writing begins, delivered via venmo or cashapp, with the rest due after you've approved the final edit. If those payment options don't work for you, we can work something else out in DMs. Please DM me here on tumblr if you are interested!
benitesco scenario where they keep having public arguments and only tedesco ever manages to bring out this like... playful teasing mean streak in sweet, gentle pope innocent whereas he'll fire off zingers that nobody thought "the priest with the gentle voice" had in him and tedesco always delights to meet him at that level and it's such obvious negging to anyone who has ever been gay in the vatican. and what once was a serious ideological rift between them is just an excuse to flirt now like it's so clear tedesco cares abt almost none of the trad shit he says anymore, he just wants to exchange erotically charged banter with his beloved and pope in public. like they'll catch a glimpse of each other in a crowded meeting hall and immediately go off on much ado ass dialogues that'll have all the other closeted queers there saying "good lird could they be any less subtle about it if they TRIED". aldo considers leaving the church and starting a new life as a crab fisherman rather than watching one more minute of this
fun things abt conclave that u might have missed if u only saw the movie!!!
disclaimer these are not necessarily spoilers, but just interesting context and characterization :) but ofc u can skip if u want to read the book urself
- vincent benitez is filipino, not mexican in the book
- he actually spends a lot of time w the other filipino cardinals who greet him pretty warmly: they know him because he did a lot of work in helping impoverished areas and helping w gang violence!!
- presumably, these two cardinals are the ones that vote for benitez in the first day
- lawrence falls asleep during one of the last ballots and bellini slips him a note w a passage abt jesus being asleep during the storm to tease him
- lawrence actually fully expects to become pope during the last ballot and begins outlining a speech (which he tears up LMFAOO)
- no turtles OR turtle pond :(
- benitez gets 80 votes in the winning ballot!! lawrence gets 21 (i think) and tedesco gets 5😭
- the vote distributions are more gradual in the book: adeyemi's votes drop during 2 ballots, not the immediate dramatic drop from 50~ -> 9 in the movie. we also see benitez gain votes over time
- the robes they find for benitez are too big for him, since they weren't properly fitted, and he almost trips over them when he goes to vote in the first ballot😭
- the papel robes are similarly too big for him; benitez states that even the smallest size was too large, and the tailor is Actively stressing
theres more but these were some of my fave :)
For this weeks server challenge we had to choose a character and draw them w a Kart. We could also copy an existing one and adapt it if we struggled too much w vehicles so I adapted this one I forgot the name for. A friend told me I should do it conclave themed and I picked Vincent for it heh
An interesting facet of the whole US tariff situation from a tabletop publishing perspective is seeing exactly how many small-time US book printers who swore they were domestic manufacturers have been straight up lying to their clients and having their stuff printed overseas anyway, and are now caught in that lie.
In case you were wondering how important sufjan stevens is to the writing process
