I have thankfully never seen anyone say Lestat was right for abusing Louis and Claudia or that they deserved it. I have however seen so many takes where people think they've the only ones who realize phisycal abuse is bad actually and other people are saying this.

I think it's part of this trend online where people want to be more enlightened and morally correct than everyone else but since they're actually just an average millennial/gen z democrat they have to pretend everyone else is dumb or bigoted or an abuse apologist even in fandoms. But also tend to strip nuance of any issue that might be a tad complicated or require nuance because there's a religious attitude to social issues on social media that means thinking and open discussion are bad and we should just repeat the "correct" answer to everything over and over.

Who else thinks that Lestat wasn't entirely lying when he said he was 'stalked' by Louis? I mean, the man can read minds, so even if Louis didn't nessecarily stalked him i'm sure he was obsessed thinking of him and Lestat the lovesick puppy that he is took it as 'stalking' lol 😆

It was a deliberate lie meant to hurt Louis, who couldnt stick up for himself during the trial. Lestat hunted Louis, reading his mind and observing the key relationships in his life. He was intimately familiar with how Louis thought, and he knew that Louis was withholding his feelings for Lestat, not acting on them. He knew very well Louis was not stalking him and that it was the other way around, and he told that lie at the trial because he knew.

Alright, I'm a little late to this reblog and I'm sorry, but then I genuinely wanna know what you think about this explanation then:

Let me help you out. That is literally established by season 1 through Louis’ own retelling. You posted this like it’s a bombshell. Louis tells us himself that he left the FairPlay only thinking of Lestat. That he enjoyed his company. He tells us of how Lestat made him feel. The Intimacy he felt with him. He also told us how Lestat showed up at the card game he usually attends with his fellow pimps. How Lestat recruited him to conveniently help furnish his townhouse. He also told us how Lestat used miss Lily to lure him in for a nightcap. He told us how Lestat beckoned him & finally chased him down in the church to propose to him. We all watched the pilot & remember the actual details. I don’t know if you do.

But one thing is clear. Mutual yearning is not mutual stalking. Stalking, is an active process. “Yearning, is a passive process. I am sorry that you can’t tell the difference between stalking & thinking of someone. But Lestat is not dumb. Lestat is not stupid. His stalking game & how he used it to seamlessly insert himself into Louis’ life is 10/10. Smooth as fuck. No notes.

If I was in Louis’ shoes, I wouldn’t have found all the coincidental meetings creepy. I wouldn’t have thought much of it. I would have just enjoyed his company, especially if I was a repressed homosexual like Louis.

Vampire or human. Lestat was reciting a script that had accompanying visual to help drive the obvious misrepresentation home. Even his performance of the lie was terrible.

Armand is not dumb either. And neither is Santiago. They wrote a beautiful & wicked narrative for the purpose of persecuting Louis & convincing the audience he deserved to die.

That’s it.

I honestly don't know how THICK you have to be to not get my point across.

I will try again but please read slowly.

I'm not excusing Lestat's behavior and I definitely think he didn't give Louis much of a choice and I'm definitely not saying that Lestat is stupid. We all know the difference between stalking and yearning but that's definitely not the case in Lestat's mind. We all know how differently he thinks about everything in this world particularly because he's Lestat ( - obsessive, romantic at heart, overly dramatic etc) and on top of all a vampire which as you already know they don't play by HUMAN rules and have a vastly different outlook on our world.

When he saw Louis for the first time and when he definitely caught onto the fact that Louis is thinking and yearning about him it's like he imprinted himself on him.

You gotta understand that we're not talking about humans, we're talking about creatures who live for hundreds and hundreds of years. Our rules don't apply. It might be hard for you to accept the concept but it is what it is.

And if you don't agree with some of their rules and ways of thinking well this show might not be for you.

You really have no right calling anyone thick and acting like they’re stupid when the “They’re vampires! Human rules don’t apply to them!” is an argument that’s debunked in the same damn episode we’re talking about here!

When Santiago (an unsympathetically evil character we clearly aren’t supposed to be agreeing with here) says that same argument about them being monsters and therefore Lestat nearly killing Louis at the end of season 1 ep 5 was actually perfectly normal and ok between vampires, Lestat himself literally says “No, that wasn’t ok actually, that was pretty fucked up in fact”!

That moment was Lestat debunking that argument in-universe and on a meta level that is the show debunking that argument to the actual audience that’s been saying that shit since season one to justify Lestat’s abuse of Louis and Claudia.

And yes, Lestat knows the difference between stalking and someone simply being attracted to him, that was literally victim blaming rhetoric In a Trial meant to make Louis and Claudia look as bad as possible. An abuser turning around and claiming to be the victim of their victim is possibly the oldest trick in the book. Look up DARVO if you have to. The writers know what they’re doing and in this moment so does Lestat 🙄

I have the right to call people what I want, especially when they show me no respect, twist my words, and are condescending on my posts. If you want respect, show respect.

Santiago’s point is valid: vampires are monsters with their own set of rules, shaped by their long lives. Lestat’s remorse comes from facing the consequences of his actions and confronting his deepest fear—being alone and having time to reflect after Louis tried to kill him (I discuss this in another post). However, that doesn’t change the fact that vampires are fundamentally different from humans and often lack a clear moral compass.

As for your last paragraph, AGAIN watch this video as a reference:

I’ve seen that video, and that in no way supports your point because again Lestat knows the difference between stalking and attraction, regardless of how skewed lol 💀 but we are clearly not going to get anywhere here since we disagree on a major aspect of the point of season 2 ep 7(the conversation the writers are having with the irl audience)

He knows the difference but he doesn't CARE! That's it. That's the difference between a normal human and Lestat - a vampire who had lived for 150 years by that point. The point episode 7 that was trying to make is that no one should be trusted completely and that everyone twists their story and pov for their own benefit.

the fact that in trop canon, sauron is written with bearing in mind the fact that he LOVES galadriel??????? L O V E S HER???

imagine being galadriel knowing that the evil incarnate loves you? the abyss that she gazed into with hatred for so long gazed back into her with love!!!

and she is the only thing he is capable of loving? bc there is this cosmic connection between them that is just out of this world, metaphysical, entirely unique??? that they have their very beings bound to one another? that it's something much greater and of a higher essence than anything shallow and common? that they are the light and the dark fated to never unite but being eternally connected in a way that they are unable to with anyone else?

what are we even supposed to do with this information? how are we going to collectively ever be sane again???

THE love story of TV, i'm afraid.
