Western Esotericism begins with Plato. Don’t get scared. I am not about to spend the next several pages explaining all of classical philosophy to you. Our focus is more specific. The purpose of this text, dear reader, is to teach you how to approach a text like an esotericist. When faced with an unfamiliar writer, our first goal is to keep an eye out for three things: Style, Epistemology, and Physics. What kind of writer are we dealing with? Where does knowledge come from? What is the world made of? If you understand these three things, you’ve done 80% of the work.  Stylistically, Plato is a trickster. His writing is structured in the form of dialogues. These are extended literary arguments between two characters. Usually, between one of Plato’s students, and Socrates.* He debates questions like What is bravery? What is truth? What is friendship? By the end of the dialogue, the answer is almost always a resounding Who the Hell Knows?

*read, Plato pretending to be Socrates

I’m sure someones already said this but I often see Tumblr described as a hellsite. This is fundamentally incorrect.

Tumblr is the faesite. Everybody is super confused and lost, you keep running into random places. Somehow you end up stuck there forever after interacting a couple of times. The people are all strange, everybody simultaneously seems to be from the future and the past as if time is meaningless.

YES

also technology breaks at random, and sometimes you just suddenly feel a thousand years old

  • everybody has a half dozen names and none of them are their “real” name.
  • which name(s) you know gives you different powers over them.
  • there are Rules but you mostly have to figure them out for yourself.
  • getting the Rules wrong or breaking them can cost you more than you ever even knew you had.
  • Maximum Horny at all times
  • be careful what you wish for or you just might get it
  • Gift Of Prophecy
  • Illegal Use Of Bones
  • Holidays are unusual but important and have very specific rites attached

“To the Ones Who Stay for the Poem”

You—

yes, you,

the quiet firefly

hovering over my tangled lines,

catching the flicker

when no one else stayed to see

if it turned to flame.

You are the hush

between stanzas,

the breath before the next word

crawls out of my throat

still damp with truth.

And I see you.

God, I do.

Not just your likes—

but the way your eyes linger

on a broken metaphor

like it’s a relic

dug up from your own ribs.

You stay for the ache,

the strange beauty,

the sacred gutspill

of poetry.

You stay

when the world scrolls past

like it’s allergic to stillness.

And maybe

your ink runs wild too.

Maybe your verses

have teeth,

have softness,

have thunder.

I read them—

and I feel the pulse of kin.

So this—

this raw blossom of word,

this bleeding sky in my chest—

it is yours too.

Thank you

for tasting the storm.

For licking the honey.

For being the ones

who still know

how to listen

to a soul

when it whispers

in syllables.

With ink and awe,

Nicole Dyer — Shamanfox

ok the peter navarro thing is funny but every time people are trying to discredit a trump advisor they fall back on this idea the person is unqualified because this allows them to condemn the individual while retaining confidence in the professional certifications system that produced them it's very transparent. the man has a phd in economics from harvard the problem isn't that he didn't come up through the prestigious channels it's that the prestigious channels are bourgeois ideology and nepotism lol
