#I have read some long-ass books in my time#1q84 and it and infinite jest and les mis and moby-dick and all the beefiest boys in the land#but I do very much believe that all those beefcakes would have been better if those authors' editors#had forced them to cut it down shorter#even count of monte cristo which is an all-time fave#could have been shorter and tighter#but yes I would and do read many 600+ page books
