And finally, not part of the 12 hour marathon but certainly at the end of the drawing spree, here's Ido with very incredibly rough but present Meridi, a galvan mechanist pirate that let Ido borrow her human mecha's face to use it to hide the fact Ido is a petrosapien :P
And technically! This characters are both the first and final Ben 10 based characters I've used for rp purposes (as in, ttrpg rp purposes where these characters have actual stats), Meridi being one of the firsts and Ido tying with Gali as last. Well I say 'last' as in I've been using the excuse one of my DMs that runs a lot of my games loves crossovers and so I got to be a Ben 10 character while others were more original and specific to the setting- but also it's because sometimes I want to subtly play as something Ben 10 themed and not be BEN TENNYSON HIMSELF *stares at 16 pages of custom character sheet*

#ido#meridi#petrosapien#galvan#oc#ben 10 oc#ben 10#fanart#i am running out of tags to ramble with- anyway!#meridi i put into a human-looking mech suit explicitly because as one of many HUMAN pirates looking to steal a space cruise-liner#well they hadn't officially had any contact with aliens and as a horde of pirates it's not a good idea to reveal yourself as other#so meridi was rather isolationist because she had to be but other than that she was always a pirate#ido (+ gali) were a companion character (gali first ido was the companion)#the er... game itself was very shortrun because the dm historically is super bad about splitting the party#aka he splits the party so hard and doesn't even gently nudge a player into the right direction so a new player ended up being so badass#they skipped a few encounters and was PUNISHED for his clever strategy by being forced to wait while everyone else got to finish their side#of miscellancous garbage that yeah okay i contributed to but my dm is also very intense about ooc information#so gali and ido got to be free from that when the campaign ended like a month later and since they were only fresh out of the cult#i wanted them not to suddenly get better and be good people but to be pirates since that's what the campaign promised to be#and why not reuse meridi who i haven't used since 2020- wait god what!? is that my oldest- no it isn't my oldest ben 10 oc still in use#oldest of the drawing batch yes- not of my current mystery list
This is the beginning of the end, and this time we have a drastic shift from the previous two redesigns with like... and actual redesign of Water Hazard/orishan/Bivalvan- hmm... let's just call this Bivalvan because I've drawn him before :P
First of all- so many eyes. Clam eyes are so (relatively) freaky y'all, truly the 'people with blue eyes: *staring into your soul*' type energy, so of the 10 visible eyes, Bivalvan has an eye ring, an iris and a pupil :)
And what do I mean by only ten visible eyes, there's a lot more blue on this design than 10. That's because those aren't eyes, that's the colour of his flesh and thus, for every hole in the armour is a valve (hah!) for water flow and thus, breathing! Things like the muscles in the claws and hood and the foot visible between Bivalvan's legs and waist are for mobility, the tendons mainly for closing joints and creating a water tight seal, the foot for movement of the limbs.
Speaking of limbs, you can clearly see how different Bivalvan's legs are :) really putting in the cockroach of my personal biases. An orishan's hands are just claws akin to the ones that rest on their waist that rest inside the claw. And those claws are in fact water cannons :P
#bivalvan#water hazard#orishan#ben 10#fanart#also i drew a thing from of the devil a visual novel defense lawyer game that is so hauntingly good i can never go back to phoenix wright#there is the temptation to do so but it will break me to go back even as i long for the gameplay and story telling#anyway check it out it's really fucking good trust me just maybe check warnings because well#content warnings aside it's also very visually taxing so be cautious and what not#ANYWAY THE DESIGN#the main difference between cerebrocrustaceans and orishan that i wanted to say with these designs#is that orishan have adapted to take water anywhere that's available with the ability to 'bubble' their water#whereas cerebrocrustaceans have prioritised the integrity of their armour even if it means they have one access point to their gills#makes making a rebreather easier of course but this ain't about them#plus they evolved from something akin to the arthropod family vs orishans which evolved from species kind of like bivalve mollusks#means they have a few seams in their armour that evolved from things either able to open or forced closed by pressure#perhaps that pressure is what it took to help develop a need to keep those seams closed since they never opened :P#either way will i suddenly draw bivalvan this way forevermore? i might forget actually#well- yeeagh i guess that's what i have to say to that
Start of a new day, finish with the old, presenting a modified cerebrocrustacean with eyestalks, since I think it'd make sense for them to pop out and swivel to see better (plus also detailing where their gills are beneath the rebreather Brainstorm has) and a thicker waist so it doesn't look like he's too top heavy.
Is it realistic to still have a toothy smile? idk but sometimes you just wanna keep a design element because it's iconic to you- I want that smug bastard to use words I don't understand with that shit eating grin god damn it!

Hello and welcome to the 'make alien designs a little more alien' redesign portion of the drawing spree, this one comes at the end of the 12 hours not because I wanted to finish at a round 12 hours but because my pen died halfway through my last drawing of the night and this was the last completed drawing- I made necrofriggians/Big Chill more moth-like :)
Going from the bi-quad shoulders of Rixie I gave Chill those same arms and since he's significantly more bug-like it looks more buggy rather than quadrupedal, plus I gave him a little thorax. Fur of course was an obvious edition to the base of his wings (nice insulation) but I also modified his anntenae to be of the fluffy variety and have like a fur hood :P I didn't want to significantly change his proportions since the cloaked figure is such an iconic look for him so I kept that in mind-
And of course I gave necrofriggians pedipalps who do you think I am

The ‘would’ in this statement feels like this question is leading up to something but other than that, I think Jawbreaker/Aftermath is okay, I do like the J'Bam dynamic at the very least; one of the few season 2 episodes I enjoyed watching, not that season 2 was the er… absolute worse. I mean they aren’t written to be siblings, even if Jawbreaker was attaching feelings of siblinghood onto Aftermath having associated the feeling with a name, and if every cybertronian made from one specific object was a relative literally all cybertronians would be siblings which *gestures at The War* I doubt.
Hmm, depending on if I keep thinking about it, it might shift from neutral to something else; baby’s first crush ain’t too bad a trope even if it’s not one I usually indulge in.
Having said that because I saw this earlier and was otherwise too busy to respond, so I have spent a long time thinking of it and have some vaguely related but unrelated rambles I collated between the viewing of this ask and getting around to answering it, biopsychology headcanons for cybertronians and how the ‘sub-species’ differs I guess- under the cut as per usual.

My nesting partner, AKA the Chewtoy, thinks of itself as a creature more than as a gendered person. If asked, it’ll tell you its pronouns are it/its.
Not furry, not less-than-human, not monumental, although those are some of the other it/its characterizations I’ve encountered. Just “gender unimportant, I am a living Thing.”
The response I hear most often from people (mostly queer, sometimes trans, mostly 40+ years old) who don’t already know other it/its folks, is a hesitation to use a pronoun that they associate with denigration or denial of personhood of trans folx. I get that, I understand it; the SNL “It’s Pat” skits aired when I was a kid. Literally the joke is “We can’t tell what this person’s gender is, how is that even a person, ewwww” and that’s awful.
Anyway yeah, I wish more people got it, and also there’s reasons why people with good intentions may need some assurances that they’re not inflicting harm by addressing you by your pronouns, when those pronouns are it/its.
Unironically, getting to know someone who uses it/its pronouns and actually respecting its pronouns will heal any trauma you have re: it/its pronouns as a tool of malicious degendering. I had it/its pronouns used against me maliciously during high school as a visibly intersex neurodivergent person and for a while I WAS that asshole who was like "I can't use these pronouns for you, it's DEHUMANIZING" because that was the only context in which I'd ever encountered them.
This changed for me when I actually got to know people who used it/its and wouldn't let me get away with not respecting that. And the more I got to know those people and the varying reasons they used those pronouns, the more my own trauma lessened.
Also, the more it/its pronouns are destigmatized and accepted, the more nonsensical it'll be to use them in an insulting way, because like, they're literally just pronouns. Lmao.
#reblog#long post#with a lot of posters#it's part of the reason why i've been putting it/they into at least discord at least- though i guess i'm not completely it/its#technically i don't have pronouns but mostly because i forget i exist and unless i know that a discussion is about me i kinda clonk out#a friend of mine did ask and have concerns about me wanting to use it/its in any capacity though- particularly about the dehumanising part#general 'inherent system shit' to call it lightly she does have a reason to be worried but :P i wanna hear myself be called it more often#not exactly sure if i count because- again- i mostly really only answer to my name and let my internet anonymity obscure any presentation#and the only pronoun set i hate is my assigned one but like that and my assigned name are like business and family names so idrc#but i certainly try to push people into vaguely it/its-ing me by making my dnd characters it/its (also technically it/they but shh)#even if it's kind of exclusively me in the text alternating between it and they rather than any person or character acknowledging that#hmm maybe i should just go it/its on discord and just make those characters it/its also why not i'm my own canon#fuck it- it/its equally like a suit of armour like one of my now 28 unique masks from cheap dollar store (but still cool looking ones)#to actual venetian masks to actual functional real gas masks#it/its like a concept that has tangible influence on the people around it- that exists in the minds of others#i'll also probably forget i have listed out pronouns again but :P i'm a concept i don't give a shit
