Dimple was always boasting about wanting to be popular and famous and stand at the top of the world but was okay with being completely forgotten if it meant Shigeo got out safely
holy shit, reigen’s spirit ;-;
i wonder if the reason dimple is so inviting is because he’s intimately aware of how lonely it is to be a spirit in a living world
i really love your comic, if you have any more ideas cooking about spirit reigen and dimple i would so love to see more art
Hello dear synapticfoe :)
you are absolutely right that dimple is partially inviting because he is aware of the loneliness of the afterlife. However, my approach to dimple’s character in the little comic is that he is extending his kindness simply out of concern for another’s feelings. Surprisingly, I have met people similar to dimple’s personality and I myself am a little bit similar. These type of people, while avoidant and never confesses their care for others easily, during times of need can be extremely selfless.
Thus In this comic, dimple, after seeing reigen’s spirit, he understands he must approach this by being considerate as he suspects that reigen might feel afraid and/or devastated by the knowledge of his death and wants to be there to comfort him :)
To answer your main question, I do intend to draw more mob psycho 100 fanart in the near future. But the spirit reigen thing is likely to end here. in my mind though, if reigen dies in canon and is taken under dimple’s wing, I imagine maybe they’ll travel the world together and fly over cities to watch sunsets together all while bantering. They’ll come back to visit mob occasionally, but most likely they’ll be gone somewhere together and maybe pass on after a while. After all, everything ends eventually, and I’d like to think they complete each other well enough to feel satisfied on spiritual-level ;)
And thank you so much for your compliments. I didn’t expect this low effort small comic to get any attention at all and your words and enjoyment is warming ^-^
Reigen and Dimple understand each other better than anyone else. They're the two adults in Mob's life who give him advice on how to use his powers, their viewpoints both self-serving but ultimately necessary. They're both excruciatingly lonely and doing their best to hide from it. They both think they can cover that loneliness up through the pursuit of worldly power before realizing that they only thing they really need to be happy is to be important to Mob. They both care about that kid more than their own lives. And it's only both of them, working together, that are able to get through to him when it matters most.
They have an easy camaraderie right from the start. They tease and banter with each other, but they're serious when the situation calls for it. Riegen is more honest with Dimple than he is with any other person. The Reigen manga confirms that post-series, Dimple consistently hangs out with Riegen even when Mob isn't around.
However you parse this relationship, it matters. They're important to each other. They're foils and narrative parallels and weird messy loving co-mentors of the most powerful kid in the world. They're friends.
Also, personally, I think it would be cool if they kissed.
He really should have known better.
