Have A Magical Day

As it is Passover again, it is time for the annual debate as to whether the frog plague, which thanks to a quirk in the Hebrew, is written as a plague of frog, singular, rather than the plural, plague of frogs, was in fact, as generally imagined, a plague of many frogs, or instead a singular giant Kaiju frog. This is an ancient and venerable argument that actually goes back to the Talmud because this is what the Jewish people are. If we can't argue for fun about this sort of thing, what are we even doing.

In that spirit, I would like to submit a third possibility, which is that in fact it was one perfectly normal sized frog, who was absolutely acing Untitled Frog Game: Ancient Egypt Edition. One particularly obnoxious frog, who through sheer hard work, managed to plague all of Egypt.

Being into the occult is really hard when you've done actual research because 99% of it in any western tradition is "white guy made it up/stole that from a different complicated system of occult philosophy (from a closed or semi closed culture of course) without any key context"

Question: with all due respect, isn't your practice of tarot avodah zara? I mean this not as an attack but as a question: I'm Jewish and I was always taught that divination methods such as tarot or astrology were avodah zara and that we shouldn't use them.

It's a fair question! I personally don't consider it to be avodah zarah, at least not the way I practice it. It's not a form of worship to me, and if I did use it in a religious context it would be for and through HaShem. I also think it's possible to use tarot in a completely aspiritual way as a reflective tool for sorting out thoughts and I often use it in that manner, especially when reading for others.

Granted, a more traditional/orthodox view would probably still view it as avodah zarah and that's fine, two jews three opinions and all that. People have different interpretations about where the lines are!

If you've been liking the single-card draws I've been posting on here and you're interested in getting a reading from me, friendly reminder that I'm still offering paid readings and am happy to do anything from a single-card draw to something more in-depth! I am currently only able to work part-time due to school and could always use the money so anything helps.

A reading for my love life would be very interesting if you're still doing them, please and thank you 🖤

You got Well!

Wells are familiar, reliable allies. I can see this reading going in two different potential directions. On one hand, it could be saying the situation will continue to be as it is right now, and might stay that way for a while. However, that's seen as a positive thing! Whether you're in a relationship, single as a pringle, or somewhere in-between, there is positive growth that can be derived from the situation and it's good to focus on that. On the other hand, it could also be suggesting there's a reliable friend in your life who you may want to consider or pay attention to. Somebody that you've known for a while, who is a positive addition to your life. Maybe there's a potential for a relationship there? Take whichever interpretation resonates with you more!

If you're still practicing your readings, I would love to ask about the outcome of my upcoming interview? Will I get the internship? 💚🌿🪲

Avatar

I hope I'm not answering this too late! I'm going to interpret this less like "Will I get the internship" and more of "How can I best rock this interview in order to get the internship?"

And good lord I got three jumper cards again.

You got Key, Fool, and Fates!

Key represents a situation that can only be solved through specific action. Locks need a specific key, keys work on specific locks. These interviewers are looking for someone with specific qualities that will satisfy the requirements of the position. You can probably guess what some of those qualities are, since they can be pretty intuitive. Things like being engaging, attention to detail, experience in a certain area or a willingness to learn, that sort of thing. Play to those elements and make sure you check those boxes in front of the interviewers. Fool calls for us to trust in the process and take a leap of faith. Don't be scared of the interviewers or intimidated by them. You want something from them, but they don't hold any power over you. Ultimately both of you are hoping you'll be a good match. That said, Fates reminds us that the ultimate decision is out of your control, and there might be factors you can't help. (For example, there's a position at my workplace that just requires the person to be free on Fridays even if they're otherwise the most qualified person in the world.) If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, but the key takeway seems to just to remember why you're there and not to stress about it too much.

I’d love a reading from the deck of many things! Could I get some clarity on my husband’s job search?

Despite shuffling I drew the same card two readings in a row lol. You got Priest!

Just like in the last reading, Priest represents a pious person or a situation that requires or rewards piety. Since we're talking about a job hunt here, unless your husband works for a religious institution or is a clergy member we probably have to interpret piety a little more broadly. Ultimately piety is the utmost dedication to an ideal, so tell your husband to stick with it and come up with a system and attitude towards the hunt that he sticks to. Stick to it religiously, you could say. This dedication will be rewarded.

If you're still needing practice with the Deck of Many Things... I've been feeling stuck creatively. I try to write, to craft, to draw, to design rituals, and my mind just runs into a brick wall and can't move forward with any of it. Any guidance on getting some creative momentum again?

Avatar

You got Priest!

Priest naturally represents a very pious person, or problems that require and reqard piety. This one honestly seems pretty straightforward to me. I don't know your religious affiliations, but if you work with any deities you might find some inspiration doing devotional art, drawing (maybe literally lol) from their mythos, that sort of thing. Ask a deity you work with for an assignment, then complete that assignment. If you don't work with any deities, you might still find inspiration from the stories and myths related to them even if you're not approaching it from a devotional perspective! But find a way to use that kind of subject matter and see what happens.

Hey, I would like to have a freed reading with the D&D cards, please! What is the outcome of the cord cutting I recently did?

Avatar

This was an interesting one. You got Door!

Door presents "an opportunity to deal with a situation differently than you have in the past." Doors in D&D in particular are kind of notorious because there are a million different ways to open a door, solving puzzles, dispelling magic, disarming traps, or just opening it like normal. That said, since it's a cord cutting this doesn't sound like a door you're particularly interested in opening. That said, when speaking about a person, Door can also signify somebody trying to make amends for their past misdeeds or adopt a better way of life. There may be an opportunity for the subject of this spell to reform and change their ways. Of course that doesn't mean you have to forgive them or be involved in that process. If you choose to though, the door is yours to open. Sounds like your ritual is only as permanent as you choose to make it. If you decide to rekindle any sort of connection with this person, just make sure you're not falling into old cycles and are doing something new.

I send a request of the Deck of Many Things!

The road is open to new project. Will I have time to set it up completely before my next trip?

Good lord you had three jumper cards so your situation sounds pretty complex before I even look at what they are. Good luck lmao.

You got Moon, Fates, and Donjon!

Moon's description in the book literally describes a situation that requires investigation and is more complicated than it appears. The situation may seem promising overall but be compromised by one particularly sticky or annoying trait. Fates naturally talks about fate, and situations bound by it. The complicating elements at play here are probably outside of your control this time. There's nothing to really "fix" them per se because it's not broken, but it can still be inconvenient. Finally, Donjon describes a situation where you may be trapped, or indecision is keeping everybody in suspense. There's an impasse here, something restricting your usual freedom of movement. This needs to be resolved before anything can be done. In this case, if you're trying to get everything done before your trip the time crunch/demands of trip planning might be an impediment.

So if I had to answer this as a yes/no question... looks like the answer is no. There's just too much to wrangle at this time and not all of it is stuff you can effectively handle with your current situation. Don't put pressure on yourself to get it all done in that time limit. It'll be waiting for you when you get back.

hi! if you're still doing deck of many things readings I would love a general advice/insight reading for the next month or so :]

You got Bridge!

Bridge is all about building connections between opposing factions, working through misunderstandings, mediation, that sort of thing. Situationally it can signify an urgent need to do so. Now is the time to focus on conflict resolution, seeing where you can reach an understanding with people who you may initially be at odds with. An honest and earnest conversation can go a long way. You might also find yourself stuck in between two factions and playing the role of the mediator to help other people resolve the same kind of issues. If you choose to take on that role, be sure to do so fairly!

Everything in my life is falling apart right now. My husband lost his job 5 months ago, and with the economy in a tailspin, no one is hiring. I'm disabled and can't work. Is there any relief in sight?

Avatar

I'm going to interpret this less as "is there relief coming" and more as "how can I find that reilef?"

You got Star!

Star, in some ways, is all about goals and working towards them. It's less about the reward and more about the process. It's focusing on developing new skills or behaviors, training, practice, that sort of thing. It rewards hard work and discipline. Not in a grindset way, just reaping the natural rewards of investing in yourself. There may be skills you can still develop to help out even if you can't work a traditional job, monetizing a hobby, things like that. Maybe there's a new field or trade one of y'all has been considering and now is the time to make that change! At the very least, investing in yourself and working on developing yourself is never a bad thing and it might at least keep you sane during this rough patch.

Quick tip for witches: take everything anybody says about quantum physics in relation to magic and spirits with a grain of salt. Basically none of these people actually understand quantum physics, and they're all butchering it to make it seem like an explanation for their beliefs. As tempting as it might be to accept and repeat what they're saying, it's also irresponsible and misleads people about what we actually know about quantum physics.

What are your prices for readings? Do you have a ko-fi or the like set up for them?

Avatar

So you've got two options! For typed-up readings I typically do about $3 per card, or if you'd like something more in-depth or a combination of different reading methods then we can just talk about it and work out a fair price.

But I'm also happy to do live readings where we hop on a video or voice call and just do a reading like we would if we were in person! For those I charge by time, so like $30 for 30 minutes maybe. During those sessions I draw from the deck freely and am happy to mix and match methods, and we just do as much as we can during that time!

Payment-wise I have paypal and venmo ^^
