Hi! You can call me Lyre. I'm currently very obsessed with Danganronpa, especially Komaeda and komahina, so you'll see a lot of that on here.

controversial opinion but unfortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are mean to people, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have secret kind thoughts. fortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are kind in your actions and your words, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have mean thoughts. the power is in working against inner negative thoughts and being a better person despite it. you have the ability to cultivate the person you want to be.

so i see this question asked a lot of ibuki mioda: “how the heck did the most cheerful and happy-go-lucky girlie on the island ever end up getting caught up with shsl despair?” most people just point in the direction of that one really good fancomic, but i wanted to expand on some things (talk to me about shsl despair headcanons do it) (no seriously if you don’t i’m gonna end up writing long ramble posts about all of them is2g)

so here we go oh oh ♪ ♪

high quality Ibuki meta I found for the Ibuki mutual!

The others are going to notice at some point that Siffrin is way too knowledgeable about this place, right

Same with the way Siffrin is stronger every loop; if there's a threshold after which I start oneshotting things and the others are like ?????? that'll be incredible lmao

Predictions before I hit the late game(?):

  • The illegible texts around the game are in some sorta language tied to the missing northern stretch of land (or at least are connected to it somehow)
  • Siffrin also has connections to there. How aware of this he is ambiguous, but he clearly has an aversion to that diary about it.
  • Also to the sky/stars/etc somehow, as is Loop
  • He's somehow involved in this entire situation with the King. Maybe partly responsible?
  • More of a stretch but endlessly looping sure feels like a way to make sure everything remains the same forever like the King wants, doesn't it
  • The favour tree is connected to all of this too, which is why Loop is there

Not weird and suspicious lines at all. Siffrin has absolutely no link to the stars, no sirree.

W o o f, that cutscene.

The way we rewound right afterwards makes it feel like Siffrin's stress- which we know they get hit hard by every time they make a mistake- was the trigger. That would be consistent with the other suspicious rewinds/edits so far, I think, except this one lacked amnesia.

Played ENA: Dream BBQ ch1 last night and it was really fun. It just feels right to play the series instead of just watching ENA's POV.

It feels like it makes zero sense and complete sense simultaneously like the rest of the series; either way, it was also hilarious. The job getting derailed into a search for a bathroom that's simultaneously a pilgrimage to repent for your sins that takes up the entire chapter. The way everyone's a prick to ENA based on some kind of past sleaziness that she probably lives up to this chapter depending on what the smoke machine was for. The way even the godlike bathroom genie hates her so much she's petty to her. Being assigned a quest to get a life.

Idk when the next chapter's coming but I'm just as excited for it as deltarune now.

I keep seeing the "chat is a fourth person pronoun" post and it's getting increasingly hard to avoid starting discourse in the notes of it. chat I don't think they know what these linguistics terms they're using mean

it's literally just a noun. the reason it grammatically doesn't feel like it means the same thing as any existing pronoun and must be in a different category is that it's not a pronoun. it's in the same class of word as "gang" or "folks" or "ladies and gentlemen". there's nothing new going on here it's just an ordinary noun being used like a noun.

FAQ

Q: language is fluid, so if enough people use "chat" as a pronoun wouldn't that mean it is a pronoun?

A: yes, but people don't use it as a pronoun so it isn't one.

Q: are you trying to police how people use words?

A: no, I'm describing the ways words are used. if people were actually using "chat" as a pronoun I wouldn't have a problem with someone describing it as a pronoun, because it would be a pronoun.

Q: well maybe I do use "chat" as a pronoun. maybe my pronouns are chat/chats. are you saying I can't do that?

A: no, obviously you can do whatever you want. however, if you did hypothetically use "chat" as a neopronoun, it would be third person, and this isn't even remotely similar to the use case being described as a "fourth person pronoun" by the post I'm talking about.

Q: is "we" a fourth person pronoun?

A: no, it's first person plural.

Q: is "chat" a second person pronoun?

A: no, it's a noun.

Q: is "chat" a vocative?

A: that's a case, not a part of speech. any noun can be "a vocative" in the same way any noun can be an object.

Q: does "chat" mean "y'all"?

A: so close! "y'all" is a pronoun which, being a pronoun, can take the place of a noun in a certain context. "y'all" is second person plural, so if the context "chat" is being used in is that you're talking to a group of people (real or hypothetical) that you're calling "chat", it can be replaced with "y'all". however, this doesn't mean that "chat" and "y'all" are synonyms, that's just a pronoun doing what pronouns do.

Q: everyone who's calling it a fourth person pronoun is joking, so you shouldn't take this so seriously

A: if they're joking in a way that's literally indistinguishable from spreading Real linguistic misinformation the result is the same either way.
