Dumb JATP as parents/guardians/uncles/aunts of t(w)eens headcanons re: slang
Luke: does not understand modern slang, does not want to understand modern slang. Only uses slang from his own teen years and is mildly offended it is considered dorky or uncool.
Julie: Understands modern slang but does not use it, unless a targeted attack to embarrass the nearest teen because they somehow deserve the embarrassment. Uses it sparingly so it doesn’t lose its effect. Does use slang from her own teen/early 20s with Flynn though.
Willie: Understands modern slang. Intentionally uses slang from eras before his time and gets away with it half the time because he just has the Vibes. Also intentionally mixes slang from several eras.
Alex: Understands some modern slang. Intentionally uses modern slang in a deadpan voice. Sometimes uses it wrong on purpose, because he revels in the D: faces
Reggie: Understands most modern slang and uses it, oblivious (or choosing to ignore) that it is Uncool for him to do so. Will very seriously say stuff like ‘my tummy hurts but I’m being so brave about it’.

In case y’all didn’t hear the JATP writers & fantoms will be striking at Netflix in Los Angeles on Friday not only to show Netflix execs how they seriously messed up in canceling this show but also for the numerous other shows Netflix has cancelled prematurely.
