I Don't Know A Thing About Birds

Katarina. I run a podcast.

THE REQUISITE PINNED POST

Hey there! You might not know me, I'm that person you’ve been following who mostly posts art…

It turns out that isn’t all I do —

I’m a storyteller, an amateur classicist, once upon a time I was an actor, and now, I’m running a podcast.

The Odyssey Out Loud is an ongoing performance and translation project creating a rendition of Homer’s Odyssey designed to be heard.

I wanted to explore the story and translate the text from the perspective of a performer, not just as a great narrative and part of history but as something that was meant to be spoken out loud and brought to life.

While working to maintain accuracy to the original text I also want to create an entertaining experience for an audience. (And it might be nice to actually do something with my classics degree…)

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, if you like Homer, Ancient Greek commentary, or just need something on in the background…  Please come check it out! I’ll be updating semi-weekly and each episode is 100% free.

(And never fear, if you follow me for the art, it isn’t going anywhere.)

He thought perhaps all the pain would sour the love, but instead it drew him further in, as if he were Mark Antony, falling on his own sword. And it was a magical thing, to love someone so much; it was a feeling so strange and slippery, like a sheath of fabric cut from the sky.
