happy trans day of visibility
Guys I just refreshed the site and everyone's profile pics went round
someone could probably make a "who do you think took your boobs?" edit out of this with discord making its server icons squarer
A lot of fantasy goes with Tolkien explanation of fantasy racism being the result of ancestral grudge.
Then you got Dungeon Meshi which is like:
"Elves and Dwarves hate each other because their respective empires make up 2/3 of the imperial core and are stuck in a cold war as the planet runs out of uncolonized land to grab. Elves are able to live in pastoral paradise because they've horded most of the settings farm-able land and natural capital, displacing and mass murdering any natives in the process. Orcs and goblins are hostile to other races because there the primary targets of an ongoing slavery and genocide campaign. The dividing line between human and inhuman is arbitrarily assigned via a phrenological pseudo-science that quickly falls apart when questioned by anyone who wasn't indoctrinated into it since birth."
Mad about politics again
rip mythbusters you would've loved destroying cybertrucks
this is going to sound like such a little sibling ass take but i genuinely believe that being a little bit annoying is actually a greater sign of maturity and self awareness than being universally likeable and on good terms with everyone
if some people find me annoying and can't stand me because of how i think and act then that means i'm a fully realized human being with my own personality and opinions and free will and not just a reflective surface for other people's desires, which is in fact a good thing despite what people who want you to just be a reflection of their own opinions and desires will tell you, and why being considered "cringe" or whatever doesn't bother me at all
also it's really funny when you're confident enough in yourself to know that people not liking you isn't always a sign that you're the problem. like there's something undeniably hilarious about being aware your mere existence has the power to piss someone off and ruin their day and i recommend embracing it.
Sometimes i feel like younger queer kids are getting a bit to bold with openly talking to people they donโt know In The Context Of:
More than once i have had a younger/same age queer person come up to me in public settings and say something about โfinding other gaysโ or clearly clocking me as nonbinary and Iโm like :)))))))) hey buddy Iโm here with my conservative parents can you fucking not out me :))))))))
Just say you like my outfit or hair and move on, fuck even tell me you like my shoelaces. Donโt call me gay and limp your wrist at me when you donโt even know me? Especially when thereโs a bunch of ppl around?
i was out with my ex once when three *very* young queer kids, like thirteen years old, came up to us and asked us โare you guys, you knowโฆโ and did the limp wrist thing at us. one of them loudly exclaimed that it was so cool to meet other queer people in real life. this was in public in an unbelievably conservative area - we didnโt even feel safe holding hands because we were surrounded by Mormons. we got lucky that day, but Iโm begging yโall to remember that the world doesnโt work like the internet. other queers are real fuckin people. donโt do this shit. OP is right; tell me you like my jacket, or my patches, or the rainbow spokes on my wheelchair, but donโt out either of us!
This used to be standard operating procedure not even ten years ago: NEVER OUT OTHER QUEERS, even if theyโre supposedly already out. Never assume that itโs okay to let third parties know that so-and-so is queer. Ever. You never know when youโve found the one uncle with the heart condition that they canโt bear to risk telling, or the one neighbor whoโs just threatening enough that they donโt mention it around, or even the grandma that they havenโt gotten around to mentioning it to yet. You might have just ruined a very important milestone for someone, or you could have put them at actual risk of harm.
Alsoโฆ stop freaking assuming. If you donโt see a pride flag on them, please donโt just assume. You canโt tell ANYTHING about a personโs gender or partner preferences by what theyโre wearing on any given day, what their hair looks like, or whether or not theyโre using makeup. You legit cannot, and you look like a jerk when you try.
this is even more important now that Trump is in power.
some people will be choosing to live in the closet and it is not your job to pressure them one way or the other.
protect your lgbtq siblings - honor their choices - and never talk to cops, collaborators, and snitches.
Younger queer people have grown up in a better world, but weโre in a time of backsliding right now. Do NOT out other queer people. Also, Iโm not gonna tell you how to present yourselves in publicโฆโฆโฆ..but please, I am begging you to re-evaluate HOW safe you are in the current climate.
Stop outing people if you suspect theyโre LGBTQ+. Iโm an elder millennial and in my day, we never did this. We came out when WE decided to come out and it was taboo around my conservative family members. I still have not come out to my family as bisexual. I was so afraid to. I was afraid that I would be disowned or what would happen.
Based on a suggestion from the last piece I drew! Free to use, same for my last piece!!
From the article:
Global emissions of local air pollutants have probably passed their peak. The chart shows estimates of global emissions of pollutants such as sulphur dioxide (which causes acid rain), nitrogen oxides, and black and organic carbon. These pollutants are harmful to human health and can also damage ecosystems. It looks like emissions have peaked for almost all of these pollutants. Global air pollution is now falling, and we can save many lives by accelerating this decline.
While air pollution hasn't peaked everywhere, things will only get better from here if trends in cleaner energy and manufacturing continue.
This is one of those examples of slow progress in solving a big problem that doesn't get celebrated, even though it represents a huge step for human health and well-being.
Western history loves to brag about their geniuses, philosophers, thinkers, and innovators throughout history but as far as I know, nobody talks about geniuses in non western history. Why canโt an Aztec community have their neighborhood Einstein who loved to study engineering and physics and helped build an efficient-running town?
Reblog is you're uncomfortable with how eurocentric our understanding of history is.
Numerous Egyptian murals: literally explain that stone blocks and large sculptures were transported using water
โAncient Aliensโ fuckos:
say it with me: it's the racism
I agree with the stuff about history but those channels are known to be blatant cash grabs and they use machinery not just sticks
This guy is legit tho and the scale of what can be done with one guy should put things into perspective.
Love this guy remember when he moved out to the new property and casually filmed a cassowary grazing there from like 2m away and we were all like "of course you've got fucking cassowaries and aren't bothered"
we as trans women need to have real solidarity, not the kind you post abt then turn around and let every other tranny you've pushed out of your life end up destitute, i really feel like i'm the only one actually trying so hard
i'm sorry if you broke up, i'm sorry if you have your differences, i'm sorry if you don't like her, if she would be homeless or hungry or unsafe without help, and you have the capacity to help, YOU ARE GOING TO HELP HER. nobody else will help us survive our terrible situations and we are so so likely to be stuck in those situations than anyone else. especially with your black and brown sisters YOU ARE GOING TO HELP OTHER TRANSFEMS, or else i'm not going to believe you when you post about how we're all one big tgirl family
