let your chaos explode!

I need to talk about Yen and Sabrina and I need to talk about them now.

Because they're so sister coded. And I know especially in the end of season 3 it seems like they can't really stand eachother but I really like the idea of them having this love/hate relationship where they secretly know they care for eachother but they would rather die than admit it. You can already see it in 1x08 after the tower explode.

Little reminder; Sabrina has stabbed Yennefer five seconds before this. She had literally an arrow in her stomach before she was blown up. And yet she still didn't hesitated to go to check on Sabrina immediately and see if she was alright. And seriously, the way she carefully runs her thumb over her cheek? You don't do that with just anyone. And especially not with someone you hate. And Sabrina?

She apologizes. She broke god knows how many bones during that fall and she still apologizes. She's hurt and barely conscious. And she still wants to tell Yennefer that she's sorry. And Yennefer (also hurt and bleeding) tries to calm her down and tell her that it's okay before she went to get help (to get her wife cough cough) It's the last time Sabrina saw her until 4 weeks later. And I honestly don't want to know what her thoughts were. She probably felt already guilty about the explosions and the way she maybe even killed some of their own people... But the fact that she physically attacked and injured Yennefer during that time before she went missing...

And then we have the reunion of them. Both of them seem a bit cold towards eachother but I think Sabrina is just testing the water, were they are right now after she almost could've killed her and Yen just went with it bc this is just how they work. They are not known for exchanging affections. At least not with each other. They joke in a caustic way, they always have. This is how they show their own kind of love.

I also think you can also see it in the faces of Triss and the other mage (does anybody know she is??). They look like they're used to it and don't even try to stop them. But Sabrina still seemed to be kinda tense during that scene, like she's waiting for Yennefer to doing the first step.

And this is my most favourite part. The way both start laughing and all the tension falls from Sabrina's shoulders before this beautiful moment happenedπŸ₯Ή

This hug!!!

Again, you don't hug someone like that when you hate/ don't care for them. It's everything in that scene that let me think they're actually really close with eachother. Because Yen lets her guards down while Sabrina who is a very closed person shows so much joy in that moment. They're just relaxed. This hug is so real. The jokes, the laughs. Then they way they both totally lean into this hug and against eachother. You can clearly see that they're totally comfortable with it and there is no bad blood between them.

Also...

"Do you kiss your elven father with that mouth?" You don't joke like that with everyone.

Yennefer had not always been treated equally because of her descent. And it's still okay for her when Sabrina does a joke like that. And Sabrina knows that because that's how they work.

Remember how everyone was staring and observing Geralt and Yennefer in 3x05?

Like the gossip started the moment they entered the room, everybody started to wisper and gave them poisonous looks because Yennefer really dares to bring a Witcher with her. And then there's Tissaia.

The way she looks at her (while it seems like Vilgefortz doesn't even try to hide his death stare lol). Her attention immediately turns to Yennefer while her eyes get brighter. She looks so soft and lovely. No bad intentions. No prejudices. With her body language she shows Yennefer is welcome and how glad she is that Yennefer's there.

(Yennefer bathes in the pool with Sabrina)

Sabrina: I have a new dare for you.

(Yennefer turns to her, feigning annoyance with a sigh)

Y: What?

S: At The Chapter's next meeting, which will no doubt be about our allegiance to the North, I dare you to call Tissaia your Queen.

Y:

S: If you're scared, I understand. There are so many people at those meetings...

Y: I'm not scared of people.

S: So you'll do it? If you do, I'd love to see. I'm sure the look on Tissaia's face would be priceless.

(In the morning at the meeting they all sit listening to Stregobor drone on.)

Stregobor: The King and Queen of the North have asked for our assistance in spreading word of the new law to be put in place--

Yennefer: I serve only one Queen.

(Everyone turns and looks at her)

Y: And she's in this room.

(Sabrina covers her mouth to hide her smile)

Stregobor: Then please, since you've felt the need to be a disruption yet again, enlighten us on who your allegiance belongs to now. We all know your history.

Yennefer: Tissaia De Vries, Rectoress of Aretuza, is the only Queen I serve--

(Tissaia turns red in the face)

T: Yennefer.

Sabrina struggles to not laugh.

(After the meeting)

Sabrina: Her face was so red I couldn't tell if she was angry or aroused.

(Tissaia walks over to them, eyeing Yennefer.)

S: Uh-Oh

Tissaia: You, in my office, now.

(Tissaia continues past them and Sabrina sucks in her smile. She chuckles as soon as Tissaia is out of ear-shot and puts a hand on Yennefer’s shoulder)

S: That ought to be fun. Let me know how it goes.

I just know that Sabrina could make Yennefer do anything just by saying the words "I bet you wouldn't" or "I dare you".

Can we please talk for a second about how Tissaia hesitated when Yennefer starts to talk about her suicide attempt in that scene in 3x04?!

First of all from the moment Yennefer started to talk about her suicide attempt Tissaia suddenly seems much more worried. She interrupts Yen that her actions where foolish and that they had nothing to do with taking control. She wanted to remember her that there was nothing good about it.

And then Yen tells her that she still feels so desperate sometimes and from there Tissaia is all worried for her.

Tissaia never looked away when she said that. She seemed so worried while it looks like she tries to read each of her facial expressions looking for something alarming. And before she could say anything about it Yennefer starts to talk about Rience and Ciri without even noticing that Tissaia was still stuck on the first topic.

Like look at her face.

That woman needed some seconds before she followed their conversation again (and she blinked!!). Because just the thought that Yennefer could fall that deep again let her freeze for a short moment.

And that really makes me want to know how Tissaia reacted to the new scars on Yenenfer's wrists. She is a very attentive woman so she definitely must have seen them and I really wanted a reaction to what happened during the end of season 2.

You do excel at it

Yennefer of Vengerberg & Tissaia de Vries | The Witcher 3x04

They own my heart in that scene. The looks they share, the jokes and then the way Yen touches Tissaia totally unnecessarily and reaching for her hand.

I mean THIS! I just love how her fingers seem to searching for Tissaias as long as possible

This.

Because Yennefer literally burned a whole field of their enemies down with fire magic. Magic that is known as uncontrollable magic, as pure chaos. Without a single flame ever touching Tissaia. After that nothing but ash, dust and dead was left. Except for this one sunken patch of green grass. The place where Tissaia stood. She literally managed to control uncontrollable magic, magic that was feared by other wizards, enough to protect Tissaia from any harm.

This is so interesting in so many ways if you think about it. First of all it shows the fact that Tissaia already cared at that moment. She said it by herself that she saved her bc she knew it wasn't just a way for Yennefer to scream for attention. She knew Yennefer was serious with it so she chosed to save her. Because she believed that Yen was worthy.

But I also love that little parallel we got in 2x03. Because:

After she added Yennefer's name to the list of the fallen she needed to take a second. She literally blinked after adding Yen's name to hold back her tears that were about to fall seconds before she added Yen's name.

And talking about the seconds before... She clearly hesitated to add Yennefer's name to the list. Righ there you can see that she doesn't want to add her name and how much effort it cost her to do it.

Myanna has once again done a brilliant job with Tissaia's facial expressions and I love it.
