Property constraint CiNii author identifier
[edit]Hi! project:Database reports/Constraint violations/P271 still shows:

relation between P271 and P396
[edit]Hi! dropping a note
- As far as I can remember the links aT SBN author ID (P396) contain two links at NACSIS-CAT author ID (P271) . Are both properties Italian identifiers? Regards לערי ריינהארט (talk) 22:27, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Added identifiers to National Institute of Informatics (Q4346622) and renamed the eo: label to "CiNii (internacia) identigilo". Should we use a "global" / "world" flag? לערי ריינהארט (talk) 10:30, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
NRID form
[edit]There is another type of author page at, for example, https://ci.nii.ac.jp/nrid/9000363887724 - which does not match the formatter URL or regex for P271. Why is there a second scheme? Can we make use of it? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:07, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: If i'm not mistaken, DA is the author ID of NACSIS-CAT bibliography ID (P1739) and nrid the author ID of NII article ID (P2409), we will probably need a new "CiNii article author ID" property and rename NACSIS-CAT author ID (P271) to "CiNii book author ID". --Thibaut120094 (talk) 00:54, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- Yes; so I have made a proposal, at Wikidata:Property proposal/CiNii author ID (articles) and renamed this property accordingly. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:19, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Property labels
[edit]This property represents NACSIS-CAT author ID (Q117190864), which is an ID for author records in NACSIS-CAT system, so I changed the Japanese and English property label. CiNii Books (Q115920710) is the name of web service to make the catalog accessible from the Internet, the successor of NACSIS Webcat (1997-2013), and currently planned to be fully integrated into CiNii Research (Q115920372). The service name changes, but the background catalog, NACSIS-CAT, did not change the name, so it is highly preferable to use the catalog name as the property label, in my opinion. Mzaki (talk) 06:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- And I have flushed property labels and descriptions in all other languages (with only a few exception) to promote updating the translation, saving old labels as an alias. The situation of label & description translation was very confusing among several CiNii-related properties (NACSIS-CAT author ID (P271), NACSIS-CAT bibliography ID (P1739), NII article ID (P2409), NII author ID (P4787), and CiNii Research ID (P11496)), so it seems a good opportunity to rebuild it from a scratch. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Mzaki (talk) 07:15, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- I disagree with the changing of this label. When you go to the site and look at the catalog record for a person, e.g. https://ci.nii.ac.jp/author/DA13997480, all you see in English is CiNii and in the HTML header CiNii Books. CiNii Books (https://support.nii.ac.jp/ja/cib/manual_outline) is the name of the site and therefore this property should reflect that. Users of CiNii Books would not recognize NACSIS-CAT. The property is for an author in CiNii Books. I oppose changing this without community agreement. AdamSeattle (talk) 02:08, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- NII officially announced the termination of the CiNii Books service (2011-) and integration into CiNii Research [1], and this was already done for CiNii Articles [2] to which NII author ID (P4787) had linked. In the case of CiNii Articles, Isamu Akasaki (Q1673706)NII author ID (P4787)1000020144115 is now redirected to https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1030003658315385348 in the CiNii Research, where we cannot recognize "CiNii Articles" except that the entry shows it as one of the data sources. For IDs currently used in CiNii Books, Katsuko Saruhashi (Q7300)NACSIS-CAT author ID (P271)DA00691772 will be redirected to https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1140563741661134848, where we cannot recognize "CiNii Books" excepting in the data source and the ID is mentioned just "Author ID". In contrast, NACSIS-CAT is a long-lasting catalog since 1985, and several software vendors sell OPAC systems using NACSIS-CAT. So NACSIS-CAT author ID (P271) is an externally used property under the name of NACSIS-CAT, and we just use CiNii Books as a convenient link target accessible from the Internet. For example, Webcat Plus is another service using NACSIS-CAT accessible from the Internet (only available in Japanese), where entries are connected to CiNii Books under the name of "NACSIS-CAT著者名典拠". We have been troubled for several CiNii FooBars properties since most of us cannot differentiate them. To prevent further confusion, we should move to use the correct property label.
