Kaisa Mäkäräinen has once again come in first place in the overall World Cup competition for biathlon athletes. Her total of 882 points from 22 races in the 2017-2018 season put her in first position, after coming in sixth in the 12.5km mass start today in a competition in Tyumen, Russia.
Her closest competitor for the overall title was Slovakia's Anatasia Kuzmina, who came in 11th in today's race. Mäkäräinen missed just three out of 20 shots during the Sunday shooting sessions.
Yesterday Mäkäräinen won the women's 10km pursuit in a down-to-the-wire thriller against France's Anais Bescond that put her in the running for the overall title.
