Police investigating a fatal car crash on highway 12 in southern Finland’s municipality of Hollola are looking into whether the collision was intentional.
Investigators suspect the driver of the car may have purposely crashed head-on into a truck which was travelling in the opposite direction, according to a police press release.
Both the driver and the passenger of the car, the driver’s spouse, died in the collision. According to the police the passenger was in the car unwillingly.
“Many factors support that theory,” detective sergeant Miia Lehtinen told Yle.
According to police the truck driver’s description of the crash has led investigators to believe that the collision was intentional.
The truck was travelling at about 80km an hour, but investigators have not yet determined how fast the car was going.
