School day back to normal in Imatra after report of armed man

Early Tuesday, there was a report of an armed man in the vicinity of two schools in Imatra. No further sightings were reported and the police declared the area safe.

A single report of a man armed with a long-barreled weapon in the vicinity of the eastern border city of Imatra's Mansikkala and Linnala districts was received by police at 7:20 am. Two schools in the area were put on lockdown.

At 9:35 am the police tweeted that there had been no further sightings of an armed person and the school day could continue.

The schools are about three kilometers from the city centre, with a combined student body of around 680.
