A 20-year-old Finnish man is reported missing on the island of Tioman off the eastern coast of Malaysia. Local news reports that the man, who was vacationing in the region, disappeared on Tuesday.
Malaysian media reported that a search was mounted as soon as the man's acquaintance filed a missing person's report on Saturday. The team of searchers includes local firefighters and police officers.
The 20-year-old planned to visit a popular tourist destination, the Asah waterfall, and meet his acquaintance afterwards. When the acquaintance returned home from work on Tuesday the man was gone, but his luggage was untouched.
Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday it was investigating the disappearance.
Malaysian authorities said that dozens of people on the island, including rescue personnel and volunteers along with tracking dogs, were searching for the missing Finn.
