Police said they suspected the neo-Nazi group PVL had continued its activities despite being under a court-ordered ban issued in March, reports Helsingin Sanomat.
Last month, the National Police Board requested that an investigation be opened after new material was posted on the PVL's Finnish-language website even though a ban on the group issued by Finland's Supreme Court had taken effect.
In March Finland’s Supreme Court placed a temporary ban on the organisation. But it also allowed the group the right to appeal lower court rulings against it, and said it will issue a final ruling later as to whether the PVL should be permanently outlawed.
"According to the Police Board, there are grounds to shut the PVL down as it fundamentally operates in violation of the law and accepted principles of morality by, for instance, spreading hate speech about immigrants, sexual minorities and Jews, questioning the Holocaust and glorifying fascists, as well as by approving of violence that has occurred during its operations," the Supreme Court said in March.
