Eeva Ahtisaari, the wife of former President Martti Ahtisaari, has tested positive for novel coronavirus, according to the Office of the President.

According to the official statement, Ahtisaari, who is 82, is said to be doing well, as is her husband. Martti Ahtisaari, who was president from 1994 to 2000, was also said to be in good shape and was not exhibiting any signs of infection.

On Friday, commercial broadcaster MTV said that another former President, Tarja Halonen, and her husband Professor Pentti Arajärvi had attended an International Women's Day concert at Helsinki Music Centre on 8 March, where one participant tested positive for the virus. Halonen served the maximum two terms as president from 2000 to 2012.

The President's office said that both Halonen and Arajärvi reported that they were in good health. Tellervo Koivisto, the widow of late President Mauno Koivisto who passed away in 2017, was also said to be doing well.

On Friday Helsinki Music Centre sales and marketing manager Juha Paaso declined to provide any specific information about attendance at the concert.

"The hall has a 1,700-seat capacity and I can say that it was not full, but neither was it empty," he told news agency STT.
