Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) has announced her marriage to her long-term partner Markus Räikkönen. The pair met in Tampere when both were aged 18, and they have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
Marin announced the wedding on Instagram, and was congratulated by her party's Twitter account.
The wedding took place on Saturday at Kesäranta, the premier's official residence, according to a press statement sent by the Prime Minister's office on Sunday.
Only close friends and relatives were invited to the event.
Räikkönen had told American Vogue in an interview that the wedding day was just a matter of scheduling, and neither had proposed to the other but rather the decision to get married was taken jointly.
He also said the marriage would be a civil ceremony rather than a church wedding.
Marin shared a photo of the happy couple on Instagram, writing that she was happy and grateful that she can share her life with the person she loves.
"We have seen and experienced a lot together, shared joy and sorrow, and supported each other through the calm and the storms. We have lived our youth together, grown into adults and parents to our beloved daughter."
