A late spring storm will bring significant amounts of rain and hard winds on Wednesday, according to weather forecasts.
A heavy precipitation system is expected to close in over southern and central areas of the country, bringing gusty or even stormy winds.
Warnings for strong winds were issued for Wednesday by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) in the regions of Southwest Finland, Uusimaa and Åland (up to 20 m/s), as well as in Ostrobothnia and South Ostrobothnia (15 m/s).
The storm warnings applied to areas in the Gulf of Finland, the northern Baltic Sea and the Archipelago Sea.
The wind warnings were in effect both on land and sea areas.
Southern areas are also expected to receive the largest amount of rainfall, the FMI's Heikki Sinisalo told news service STT.
The heaviest rain will come in the morning and afternoon," Sinisalo said, noting that the precipitation and hard easterly winds would head north during the course of the day.
