Åbo Akademi University in Turku has announced plans to offer course places to Ukrainian students fleeing the war in their home country.

In a statement, the university said that students who have had to pause their studies due to the conflict can take 'supplementary' courses free of charge.

Although Ukrainian students are being granted study rights, they cannot graduate from the university with a degree.

The university's statement added that courses will be made available from all four faculties, with the majority of places being offered on master's level courses in English.

However, some bachelor’s level courses can also be completed in English.

Åbo Academy’s Open University -that is courses with an open-door academic policy that are usually subject to fees- has also announced plans to make its courses available for free to Ukrainian students.

More information on the admission process can be found on the university website.
