Newspaper Ilta-Sanomat (IL) writes this morning that the fact that five Left Alliance MPs voted against the Patient Safety Act on Monday is "undoubtedly a problem," according to SDP politician Antti Lindtman.
The chair of the parliamentary group of the Prime Minister's social democrats said that the Left Alliance ought to address its internal disputes over the government's recently passed patient safety bill.
Finnish MPs approved the controversial law that could effectively force nurses to work during strikes by a vote of 109–38.
"The Left Alliance must now have a serious discussion about whether their parliamentary group is committed to cooperating with the government and whether they are capable of functioning as the governing party's parliamentary group while committing to the rules of the game that have been agreed upon together," Lindtman told the paper.
Chair of the parliamentary group of Left Alliance Jussi Saramo also spoke to IL, saying that the group will be discussing the matter on Thursday.
"This is the first time that something like this has happened in this electoral term and that several MPs are involved," Saramo told IS.

Changing weather
The weather in Finland is set to change, with meteorological service Foreca predicting an increased amount of showers from October, according to tabloid Iltalehti.
However, this week, a high pressure front will keep rain away while also keeping temperatures low, according to the tabloid.
Foreca meteorologist Joanna Rinne does not rule out some warmer days in the mix this week, adding however that overall, "average temperatures for the week lean slightly on the cool side."
