Selänne level with Kurri in NHL points

Teemu Selänne has drawn level with Jari Kurri as the Finnish ice hockey player with the largest number of points in the NHL. He reached the milestone with an assist for the second goal, scored by Bobby Ryan, in his team Anaheim Ducks’ win over Edmonton Oilers.

Selänne and Kurri are now in joint nineteenth position in the overall all-time NHL scorers’ list. Selänne’s 1398 points came via 658 goals and 740 assists, while Kurri’s total is made up of 601 goals and 797 assists.

'The Flying Finn', as Selänne is sometimes known, has scored 21 goals and made 37 assists in 67 games this season. He can overtake his childhood hero in the rankings in Anaheim’s next game, which is against the St Louis Blues in St Louis on Thursday.
