Tens of thousands of pigs await slaughter and one manufacturer, HK-Ruokatalo, estimates the queue will take until mid-August to clear.

The four-year deal struck by union and employers will not cause great pressure on food prices, says the CEO of the Finnish Food and Drink Industries´ Federation, Heikki Juutinen. However, the Federation will examine the effect of the strike on bakeries and meat processing firms, which incurred losses of several million Euros.
