Power outages were reported Saturday afternoon in South Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia and Häme. In those areas around 4000 households were without electricity. The Vattenfall power utility said it had cuts in electricity supplies in areas including Hämeenlinna, Tammela and Evijärvi.

In southern and south-western regions some 13,000 Fortum customers were without power.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute issued warnings for almost all land areas in the country and for western parts of the Gulf of Finland and eastern parts of the northern Baltic.

High winds kept the Coast Guard busy assisting boaters in distress. Winds also felled trees, especially in southern and south-western parts ofthe country.
