The train collided with debris in Nastola. The engine was damaged and was unable to continue the trip.

Tracks between Lahti and Kouvola, a major avenue to eastern areas, are impassable. High winds felled so many trees onto the tracks that it will take the better part of Monday to clear the debris. Trains are being re-routed.

Monday morning's travellers from Helsinki to St. Petersburg, for example, had to switch to busses in Lahti for the duration of the trip.

Service is also slow between Lahti and Kerava, and Lahti and Riihimäki.

The tracks between Haapamäki and Seinäjoki have been cleared of trees and other debris, but trains are still running from half an hour to an hour late due to a mechanical fault.
