Massage Parlour Front for Prostitution Operation

The National Bureau of Investigation says it has uncovered an extensive prostitution operation linked with a Thai massage business, reports the newspaper Keskisuomalainen.

A couple in Jyväskylä is suspected of serving as pimps for more than ten Thai women. Hundreds, and possibly thousands of people are believed to have bought sex services this year and last. The two are now being held on suspicion of aggravated pandering. However the case is not believed to involve trafficking in humans.

According to police, the women selling sex services were of legal age, came to Finland voluntarily and knew what they were getting into.

Police are only investigating the massage business from the years 2005 to 2006. However, the business has been running since 1998. The couple also owns a smaller Thai massage parlour in Varkaus.
