Nordics Join Forces on Pandemic Preparedness

The Nordic countries continue joint preparedness efforts ahead of a potential bird flu outbreak.

It's however too early to plan for a collective bird flu vaccine, because of potential technical glitches, outlines a joint statement by the Health Ministers in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.

Nordic pandemic preparedness was a topic of discussion at a high-level conference in Stockholm on Tuesday. Talks centred on cooperation in ensuring the delivery of the vaccine in the event of a bird flu outbreak in the Nordic region.

Pandemic preparedness will remain a high-priority topic throughout the year at meetings of the Nordic Council of Ministers, a forum for Nordic governmental co-operation.
