Max Jakobson dead at 89

The business journal Talouselämä reported on Monday that veteran diplomat and economic figure Max Jakobson passed away last week at the age of 89.

Jakobson was born in the city of Vyborg and began his professional career as a journalist. He later held the positions of head of the Foreign Ministry's political section, UN Ambassador and Finland's Ambassador to Sweden.

He was the head of the EVA economic policy think tank 1975–1984.

Jakobson also authored numerous books on Finland's foreign policy.
