According to rescue services who responded to the incident, the accident occurred on Uusi Porvoontie in Östersundom, eastern Helsinki, early Tuesday morning. First responders received the alert shortly before six in the morning. Police say that the vehicle had been driven by a 19-year-old.
First responders said that the driver was dead when they arrived on the scene. The speed limit in the area is 60 kilometres an hour.

"The car veered off the road on a gentle curve but we don’t know the reason why. Driving conditions on the road were good and there was nothing like ice there," said on duty fire chief Kimmo Tuominen of the Helsinki emergency services department.
